Oke, I know this sounds stupid, but I am new to the online racing. Last week we played Shift online (I know, sorry, but It was the only game me and my brother both had a copy of) and this went all reasonably well. Yesterday we both popped in a copy of SSV8NC and where ready for some on line racing. But whenever I tried to set up or enter a race in the lobby I get the message ' host unreachable' or similar. My brother had no problems by the way. I think It has to do with firewalls ? Or Is It something I have overlooked in the SSV8NC multiplayer mode ? Thanks, can't wait to go on line with this game !

Sorted It out ! Although It seems I am talkig to myself here, I hope I can find some serious racers on line from the forum. Last weekend I discovered Iahve a lot to learn, did a time attack with all assistance off, except ABS, and while I improved my own track record, there was still a gap of 1.8 (!) sec with the fastes driver. It was still good fun though. I think I am online tonight (about 21.00 in Holland), password all L1, except the last box which should be R1. Hope to see you on track.

and while I improved my own track record, there was still a gap of 1.8 (!) sec with the fastes driver.

Unfortunately the leader boards are biased. Most of the record times are done with shortcutting and cheating. In the end there are only few tracks where you can actually see the real pace as people don't gain that much with cheating. Also the differences between fastest and slowest cars in the game are bigger than that 1.8 sec, so in reality you might be in with a very good pace!

Thanx for your reply. Yes, I have seen a youtube video of some guy who actually showed you how to cut the track, he was even proud of It. Dams shame those lap times appear in the leaderboard, but what can you do. Just hope to find some serious racers on line, I have a feeling the guys who still play this game on line, are real racers and no cheaters. I am glad I have a brother to play against, If I hadn't and you are a new SSV8NC player, the online activity might be very dissappointing. In fact, I think I make my on line championship public, because as I said, you have to be a serious racer to buy and play this game. I hope.

Well, unfortunately some of those "serious" racers that still play the game seem to think that cutting the track is normal. So, if you make an open lobby and want to have fair racing, I suggest to avoid tracks like Monza, Imola, Portimao and so on. I can't remember anymore that on what tracks you can gain from cutting and on what not, but pick up tracks where cutting isn't beneficial. That way you wont loose your nerves 👍

Oke, so a private session It will be. If you ever see a race hosted by me, It will be all L1, except the last box = R1. Don't you guys here don't play this game anymore ? Have you all switched to SCC ? Unfortanetly I don't have that game yet, but reading here makes me want to buy It. Hard to find though. Do you think It's worth It to open a topic to announce a GTplanet SSV8NC-race ? Won't hurt trying I guess.

^^
Yeah what Vompatti said, choose Vallelunga or Valencia, those were the 2 only tracks where you couldn't cut(Ironically in the first SSV8 Vallelunga was cheaters heaven...)but I wouldn't be surprised if at this point, after a couple of months, the punterazzi had found shortcuts in these two tracks also...
Piece of advice?Play with your brother...

EDIT:

@Minardi,here is a link for SCC purchase (probably You get cheaper in others like Hut or shopto):

Thanks for your input. Last night had some on line racing. At first I forgot to password-protect the championship, people were jumpin in and out rhe lobby and the race. At some point we were racing with 6 guys, too bad at least 2 of them were cutting corners and misbehaving, so we stopped. I feel sorry for the serious drivers but this was no fun. So, took your advice and raced against my brother. Which was great fun against AI hard !

Now I thought It was possible to also practice and qualify on line, but It seems not. Can anyone tell me more ? I read this thread almost completely, must have overlooked It. Anyway, the racing was close and fun, I love the AI and can't wait to get on line again. By the way, It was good to see there were more races hosted. If anyone cares to join us , all L1 except the last, which is R1 :-)

Yesterday evening I popped in Good Old SCCV8N and I had a hell of a time again.

Tried to race online but there was really no-one :nervous:

Tried occasionally to find a lobby in 2 hours but never found one....

Are you guys still racing?

@Doblo; Well, I had that same Idea, not much racing going on lately, I think a lot of the people went with SCC (I have ordered a copy too). But, me and my brother have an occassional race-evening with SSV8NC, we believe It is a GREAT game, and I have 2 friend buying the game soon, and than we will have on line competitions. You are welcome to join. We alway use all L1's except for the last position, R1. Last week and this week we both have been busy, but will race soon. May be we can organize a competition on a set day and time ? Maybe more people will join ?

PS-1 Ain't you from Holland too ? Vaguely remember reading that somewhere, but may be wrong. Would help on deciding what time a race should be held.

PS-2 We are not that experienced yet ! Can be great fun though.

Ha, waiting for F1 too. And just got a message that my copy of SCC arrives by the end of next week, plus 3 copies for my friends and 2 copies of SSV8NC for them too. Will add you on PSN next time we play. Than we at least we have a group of 3 - 4 people who intend to play both games online, and although not that experienced, we try to race clean. We could do with your ghostcar !

Wow. How people can overlook this game is beyond me. Sure, the graphics and AI aren't amazing, likewise the handling, but overall everything else is brilliant. Doing a Championship, just won my first 2 races at Imola (the second one was a recovery drive from lap 5 when I spun, I was shocked I still won!) and the fact that you can spin in this game altogether is in the right direction. I love controlling oversteer and drifting out of bends.

Plus, there aren't many games that have full race weekends. I know this is a Superstars V8 Racing licensed game, and that's therefore expected, but still, it doesn't come around that often. Can't wait for their rally game, just hope the graphics and arcadeness are sorted out.

I totally agree. It feels so good to have a full race weekend finally, after all those dissappointments with Shift and Grid. As a fan of WTCC and DTM, the Superstars series, which I never heard of, looks like a great competition to follow. The 2 races with 2nd race reversed grid for pos 1-8 is just like WTCC. And I must say, I love the AI, in my experience one of the best I have encountered. What level are you playing ? I started a championship at medium, but after a few race weekends you will find yourself 30 sec. ahead of the pack. Now I race Hard level with all assists off (except ABS) and have hard times and heavy fighting going on to end in the top 6. You gotta love It. And online I like It too, great fun with my brother and a heap of AI, with other human competition entering soon. And yes, look forward to WRC too. And F1. Must honestly say, GT5 isn't on top of my wishlist yet.

Yes, I really love WTCC and DTM too, and Superstars does seem a great series to follow. I'd never heard of it too and it shows off some great racing in great cars and tracks. I'll have to check what difficulty I'm playing on and I'll tell you. Probably medium. And the weather is just added brilliance.

Although I have to say, GT5 is on top of my wishlist. :)

I'll probably be online this evening a bit. Just running a quick race event. hardly needing a password protected lobby these days

Ah, saw this a day too late. I recently picked up some copies of SSV8NC for a couple of friends. We are with 4 now, and plan to race weekly, one week SSV8NC, other week SCC. Will post an announcement here when they are race-ready.

PS feel free to add my PSN: Minardi-1

I just picked this up todaye in the bargain bin. If anyone would like a few races tonight, I'll be on my non-GTP account, whore-ing trophies.

There was a time, we played SSV8NC a lot online. New games came and went, but I kept playing SSV8NC off line now and than. Lately we were trying to play this game again online, but now with some other guys. Problem was, we couldn't get into each others lobby. Finally, this issue was fixed (NAT-settings, port forwarding) and we are some happy racers. There is almost no on line activity these days with this game, which is a shame. The main reason we picked this game up again is the ability to add AI to the field on line. And I don't mean GT5-like dummies, but AI that actually race you. It felt great to race on Portimao again in a packed field! Anyone else still playing ? And does this game get a release in America, as It seems they only got It SSV8 a while ago, not It's successor. Looking for lobbies...

Had a good time last evening, It was a blast to play against some serious AI (high), no assists and a few human drivers. In fact, we liked It so much we have planned our next event; monday january 24, 20.30 GMT+1, Monza. Please join ! (PS3)

Yes ! I do. Every now and than with a friend of mine. Great thing is you can add AI so you don't need a lot of other guys online, and that is good because there are not many people playing this anymore. But I keep coming back to It, great game. You are on PSN ? Feel free to add me, we can schedule something If you like.

I just got this game. For 10 bucks in the PS Store, well worth it IMO. Add me on PSN if you want to race. The PS3 version doesn't have a cockpit view. Anyone know if its unlockable or is it only on the PC version. Wait. Wrong version. I have the older game if anyone is interested in playing, Superstars V-8, from the Playstation Store.

If you like the older game, you really should get V8NC too, so we can play online : ) Should not be expensive these days, which part of the world are you from ?

I picked this game up today for less than £10. First impressions are very good, and I'm asking myself why I didn't buy this a year ago.

This is a very solid racing game with solid but forgiving handling, decent AI, a nice selection of tracks. The graphics wont trouble GT5 or Forza, but are functional are perfectly fine (the wet weather track looks impressive though). The car engine sounds are much better than GT5 though.

My only criticism is the light steering & force feedback, plus the massive dead-zone. Also customisable controls and sensitivity settings would be welcome. Some views could do with a rear view mirror too.

I'm pleased I bought this, it's a nice change from the rather dull GT5 as it focuses on real championship racing on proper circuits with a full race weekend format.

Good game. 👍 Reminds me of the old TOCA games. I hope they release another one.
