Supra griping problems!!!

at the start of the 0-400m the supra wont grip good, i set asm to 0 and tcs to 1 but that doesnt do any good. it has 1081hp but i should lower it to make it quicker right? what would you say around 700-800hp? i keep on getting 10.5xx mainly because at the start it goes slow, my ratios are pretty much in the middle. any advice would be much appreciated.

Less hp is not the answer. The three ingredients for getting off the line well are:

Settings. I haven't done much with the Supra, but in general it helps to have the ride height high, and the rear springs hard. Experiment.

Gears. With very high hp, you might do better with a second gear start. Move the "final" around, and race your ghost.

Technique. Use less throttle before the start, and then ease on the gas as the car starts to move. Practice, practice.

Good luck.

edit: Also, some cars will do better with a little more TCS. Try two or even three. These higher settings will cost you speed further down the track, but it might make up for it at the start.

Sorry twinturbo supra! :embarrassed: Ignore the "400m for beginners" advice in the previous post. If you're running 10.5's in the RZ you probably know all that.

Took a few runs in my not-quite-broken-in 1077 hp Supra and hit 10.616. My impression was that the problem was not so much grip as maybe turbo lag. The rpm falls way down at the start, and is slow to recover. I'm not sure this car is gonna do a whole lot better than 10.5xx. Which seems odd since the Viper, with similar hp, torque, and weight will do low 9's. Of course the Viper is close to 8 L displacement, while the Supra is about 3. Anyway, I'm thinkin you're pretty close to the limit of what the car is capable of.

Soften the rear dampers and springs, and set your ride height up high. This will help transfer more weight to the rear wheels more quickly, and keep it there.

Experiment with low and high ride heights at the front, but keep the rear up. You really want to let it squat under acceleration.

I appreciate the theory behind the"squat" tuning, but I have yet to fully optimize a car for the 400m and end up with less than 20 on the rear springs. The 10/1 1/10 dampers sometimes seem to help, but I don't think their contribution is much with the really stiff springs. Max height at the rear is almost always the best.

But to return to the RZ, I've never seen a report of less than 10.5xx, which doesn't mean it can't be done, but really makes me wonder why this car is so slow compared to cars of similar hp/weight. Perhaps some hybrid enthusiast could swap engines with the Viper and see where the fault lies.

The Supra's small width rear tires hold it back. The reason the viper is quicker is because it has a 13 inch wide rear tire.

With my Xport I swapped out the rear wheels/tires for those on the Tom's Supra, the car will now put down low 10's.

The Supra otherwise hits a wall at mid 10's.

hey Monster7 i just recently bought an X-port but i still don't get how to use it, i have the usb cords hooked up but kinda lost from there. i was thinking if i needed to buy that aciton replay thing ?

You need to buy the Action Replay if you want to use the codes on the Xport. (I found this out after buying an Xport.)

But if all you want to do is modify your car's in GT3, you will need the Xport and MK's program.

Also, make sure the Xport program is running on your pc before you turn on the PS2. Sometimes it won't work if you turn on the PS2 before you have the Xport program running.

Anything else?
