Surprise gearboxes

So far there´s the two single speed gearbox cars - the toyota prius and the honda logo (the latest has the option of an automatic 5 speed gearbox after fitting a customized gearbox), the the 7 speed gearbox subaro pleo, and finnaly the vector weigert w8 with an initial 3 speed gearbox and 5 speed gearbox after fitting the customized one.

Anyone else found anything?

Nothing to compete with that - I knew abou the Prius and the Vector (they were a three speed auto as I recall).

that prius is a dog. It has the worst power to weight ratio in the entire game. It only goes up to 70hp or something and weights over 1000kgs

Yeah, but I was still amazed with the speed he could achieve in the test track (considering the hp).

Actually almost everything was discovered by other gamers.
I red it in the "your "secret" car that no one knows about" thread, in the first page I believe, and found out about the prius, pleo and logo.
The only thing I did discovered was the 5 speed auto gearbox you could get for the logo. The vector, I don´t know if I heard he was a 3 speeder in stock form here at gtp or saw it in supercars.net. WTF were those vextor guys thinking? I guess poliphony felt pitty for the us and gave us a five speed option. Phew.

There is also a lexus, the sc300 that has a stock 4 speed gearbox that also gets the 5 speed option. I belive there are other 4-speeders around, at least one or two but I´m not sure, maybe there aren´t or maybe I haven´t spot them yet because when I buy a car I fit the customized gearbox right away.

*And that 7 speed gearbox also amazed me. I´m not into hybriding but that gearbox is giving me ideas

i may be mistaken, but doesnt the phaeton come as a 4 speed? I am 89.343% sure that it did, cos at the time i though it was a dumbass decision by someone to make a V12 a four speed.

Possibly, a large american luxury car does seems the thing were they would put that kind of gearbox (although I still find it cheesy). I believe he does get the 5 speed gearbox after customization...

You'll probably find a 5 speed auto that could handle the torque wasn't available at the time.

Yea, either that or they chose a 4 speed for smoothness in change as that is all that was available at the time (in real life)

The Pleo RS gets the 7-speed, but you can't shove more than 180hp in it. I put the auto-slider on "1" for nearly every track (the power curve bogs down if you go much past that)!

Never noticed the 4-speed tranny; then again, I never bothered with the Lexus SC300 in the game (I've used the Toyota Soarer VVT-i, though)

I was surprised by the Wiegart. One first gear it frikin went all the way up to 70-80 mph stock, I'm like WTF?!?!!? assuming it had 5-6 gears. But then it only had 3 gears, and this is my thought:

Vector built in a 3-speed for safety reasons. They were scared that people would routinely kill themselves with a manual, and the first of the 3 gears lasts until like 90mph. It's not slow at all, considering the tremendous outpouring of power the car has. The other 2 go by quickly.

I read that somewhere, maybe Supercars.net.

More convenient. I can stay on first gear while going thru the city and on the highway. And besides, ricer's would b scared shtless by the time they need to shift, and theyd prolly break the manual.
