Surprising Altezza

I was doing the Amateur Altezza races last night and I had to build a brand new car. I had all the mods except power upgrades which as only tuned to about 310hp on Super Slicks. Anyway, I make a quick race setup and I enter the race. I couldn't believe how quickly this car is able to switch directions in a drift. I wasn't even trying to drift. The rear ust came out under some braking coming into a left hand turn on Deep Forest followed by a quick right. I was just in shock how well, with such little power, this car drifted. I got a hang of the car and about on the 4th lap I was far ahead enough to play around a little and drift some turns just out of curiousity. It doesn;t power over well but linking corners is insane.

Personnaly, I think the Altezza in general sucks for drifting, but this particular car just surprised me. I could post some settings if you guys want to try it yourselfs.

I'm not talking about my Sharkport. For some reason my GT3 disk needs a couple tries to get going now. Once I get a job I plan to just get a new PS2 anyway.

My first drift car was the Altezza LM Race Car. I drifted that thing on dry, wet, or dirt. Got a 1'07 on Swiss Alps!

the laser is probably gettin old...just buy a replacement one for like $80....well around there depending on ur PS2 version

The alltezza is actually a great drift car with the right setup. I use the LM and the rs200 and they drift very well. I would be interested in seeing your settings, to see how close they are.

Hey that's not fair you get us all excited about your Altezza, and after you have our attention, you go off and sell the thing. That's just ridiculous :P

Altezza's suck... lol. That car was only good for changing drifting directions. I wasn't good for drifting in any other way.
You obviously didn't have it setup right, or your just not a very good drifter if you think the Altezza isn't a good drift car.
I think Cudda or Sheron would be with me on this.

Man, you know what bugs me about the Altezza... People always refer to it as the rs200, which can get confusing if rs200 immediately means the best ford ever made in your mind... Other than that fact, the Altezza is a tail happy lil bugger... :D

I have two problems with what you said.
1.) It wasn't setup to drift. It was setup to grip with 310hp and Super Slicks.
2.) It's a personal thing. I never liked the Altezza.

You will see how good I am once I bust out some 1 year old vids of me drifting.:D

i use the plain altezza and to me its a good drift car. As for the playstation2 problem,,, my friend had the same problem with his PS1, it was the laser. If you don't have the money to get a new one, a trick that used to work with the ps1 was to put the disc in and then turn the system upside down.

hopes that help (as for me i am cheap so if the flipping of the system worked i would never get a new laser for it:D:D:D:D:D)

Just get it cleaned or get a cleaner. It's just dusty. BTW the Altezza is my favorit drift car, it does everything i want it to do.

It's not dusty, trust me on that. Cleaned it myself.

No, not the cd... the lens, when it gets dusty it can't read cd's as well. I had the same problem; I ended up getting a new PS2 though, since I had a warranty. But I have talked to other people with the same problem and cleaning the lens has made the PS2 work like new. Here are some instructions oh how to clean it.

Check that out, if you are going to get a new PS2 anyways you might want to try it before you shell out the extra dough.

I know what you meant, I've cleaned the lens lots of times. The first time it worked really well, now it's just getting progressively worse and worse. I plan to get a new PS2 sometime soon anyway.
