Suspension Set-Up to Counter Oversteer for FR cars

This is a way to counter oversteer for most, or all, cars with a FR Drivetrain. This Set-Up is for the Fully Customizable Suspension Kit; for 15,000cr.


Ride Height:
Front= High
Rear=Low

Spring Rate:
Front= Hard
Rear= Weak

Dampers Extension:
Front= Strong
Rear= Strong

Dampers Contraction:
Front= Strong
Rear= Weak

Anti-Roll Bars:
Front= - (None)
Rear= Weak

Camber Angle (-):
Front= - (None)
Rear= Negative

Toe Angle:
Front= - (None)
Rear= In


NOTE: THIS TUNE SET-UP IS ONLY FOR COUNTERING OVERSTEER. YOUR CAR'S HP, LSD, TRANSMISSION, WEIGHT, AND TIRES, ALL EFFECT THE CAR'S PERFORMANCE IN HANDLING. THIS SET-UP, HOWEVER, DOES NOT INCLUDE A "HIGH-SPEED CIRCUIT SET-UP", OR A "TECHNICAL COURSE SET-UP".
 
I completely disagree with your advice, but this may work for your driving style. Also the car works as a system, so leaving out the LSD and weight and tyres means your missing much more of the puzzle.

each has its own way of building your setup, but you have to have the basics that there isn't any stub
to which car you would put this study FR;FF; 4WD; MR; RR;

This Set-Up came from an Official Gran Turismo 5 Book, called "APEX: The Ultimate Car Guide". On page 167, it states that this Set-Up is a 'Suggested Setting', but it may not apply for all cars.

I just found it in the book, and thought that I should share the info, just in case no body knew how to help fix Oversteer. That is all.
 
This Set-Up came from an Official Gran Turismo 5 Book, called "APEX: The Ultimate Car Guide". On page 167, it states that this Set-Up is a 'Suggested Setting', but it may not apply for all cars.

I just found it in the book, and thought that I should share the info, just in case no body knew how to help fix Oversteer. That is all.

Understood, but the information is still useless without all the other major variables combined with individual driving style, driving aids (if they are on), weight and distribution, tires etc.

I personally do not have this guide so I'm unable to see it's larger context.

It is not. If you have a FR car that oversteers, doing any of the steps he discribes will help you counter oversteer.

I actualy have seen it happen last night, when i drove against my nephew on the SPa Francorchamps track. We both drove the C6R ZR1, but he had real trouble with the rear end of the car. So he softened the rear springs a few cklicks and added 0.3 camber at the back. And whoops he drove 1-2 sec faster and had allot more controll over the car.

So it does work.

Remember "KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid". Yes you can alter a hundred things on a car. But the simple changes in tuning work just fine for achanging a cars behaviour.

Ride height difference don't work anymore for the car's balance in GT5.
When it was stil on ,before 2.08. It was the oposit as real life. Front= High and Rear=Low was increasing oversteer.
2.08 Text: "Adjusted the changes in control characteristic when altering vehicle height from standard height."

I'm OK with all the rest and yes of course everything is interconnected, but more settings you're playing with, more it's going to be difficult to find the point. This is also the best part.:dopey:

IIrc this is only true when set to extremes. I feel a softer rear does indeed help against oversteer (like it should).

I'm total fan of KISS (especially at work), but just because your trying to maintain a KISS approach, doesn't mean the advice suits all FRs nor should you ignore other major characteristics. I still believe the rules provided are inaccurate for tuning in GT5 at the current time simply because ignoring the other major components of the system as mentioned above, in particular tires and especially weight distribution.

(Furthermore, this thread could even be expanded to "when you have oversteer; i.e. corner entry, middle or apex including when on the throttle, rolling or on the brakes).

But my thread-post ends as I'm going out for beers (I'll leave the McLaren at home tonight) :dunce:
