hey guys,
just wondering what are some basic tips for suspension settings.
i made a few minor adjustments to ride height, camber and toe in and noticed massive improvements in handling and score...
any tips for a noob?

Tip 1:
Let people know what device you´re using, what settings on it, what is your favorite camera and so on... for exemple, wheel settings and DS3 settings have huge diferences, and is possible that every wheel demands slightly changes... same as your DS3 configuration and driving settings.

Tip 2:
Drift mode requires one kind of setup, drift online requires another. As people here do not take seriously the drift mode, probably you wont have too much help in this part.

I know i didn´t answered your questions, but as mostly everyone would say something like this in here, im saving your time.

ok thanks for that, i didnt realize.
i use a DS3 controller. pretty stock setup. sensitivity is the default (0) and the only aid is ABS=1. i use the camera that is on the front of the car with the large dials for speed and revs.
i dont usually drift online, just in my lobby with some pals occassionally... interesting that it is different tho.

Well your lobby is online because you're interacting with other people over the internet. It's been proved (and it's noticeable) that the physics offline are different to the ones online, some say the online physics are slightly more realistic but I'm not sure.

For me, I always make the front ride height larger than the rear, soften the rear suspension rate and set the anti-roll bars for both front and rear at around 2-4 depending on the car being driven.

I always knew that the physics offline were different compared to online physics but online physics being more realistic to offline physics? I think that's something that we need to put to the test.

Hey mate, I use the same cars/ tunes when drifting for points or online (i honestly don't feel it). Also I dont have to retune my rides when using a wheel (dfgt & g27). I'm very good at tandem battles and point drifting.

To start drifting I didn't need rear camber as much(still don't) and You should soften up your spring rates when decreasing total weight. the LSD setting impacts greatly on how you want the wheels to behave mid drift so it goes into the stability section of drift tuning. Also Aero is good for some people. I tend to drive ridiculously high powered drifters but it's all the same techniques with different timing etc. anyways hope you get something out of this ramble

I used to play Forza 3 before I got GT5 and used this tuning guide to tune every one of my drift cars. The values have changed slightly in the diff and suspension areas coming from Forza. However if you apply the formula and substitute the values in GT5 tuning the result is the same. It uses the weight distribution of the car to determine the appropriate suspension settings. It's seems a bit long winded but the formula is key.

Please note that negative toe is toe out in GT5 and there is no caster so don't take the guide too literally and it'll work magically.

I lower the back about -10, and put the front at -5. Springs are always between 10-11 front and 6-7 in the back. Dampers are at 3/4 and 4/3 and roll bars are at 1/2. Camber is 2.7 front and .7 back and toe is -.15 front and 0.00 back. That's how all of my cars drift cars are tuned, with slight adjustments depending on handling differences. I'm thinking of raising the front ride height an extra .5 since I still get understeer unless at I'm at insane angles. Once I'm pretty much facing the inside wall the car becomes rock solid. And this is for a wheel online.

Its nice to see when 2 or more games can share the same theories to find similarities. Otherwise, i learned with the best drifters in GT5 that its always better (if possible) to fix the weight distribuition via stiffer rear springs than putting some ballast on rear.
