SVG file to large to upload

I'm having some problems uploading my decals. I keep greeting an error message saying the the file excess the limit. How can I make the SVG small so that I will be able to upload it?

How much is it over the limit?

What program are you using?

Are you automagically converting bitmap to vector?

File size limits are 15kb. One way to lower the file size is to use something like this and see if it reduces it to below the limit. Drag your .svg file in and download the new file (Usually I don't need to do anything else). Or you can tinker around and see what options you can do to lower it further. Just be careful, as some could change the way your vector looks.

For large .svg files, I split it into parts and upload each part.

Hopefully this helped.

I'm not sure on the file size but when I go to the Decal Download Editor it gives me a error message that file to large and won't download.
As far as which software I'm using its Inkscape. I've never used it before and it seem like everyone is using it. But Im clueless on how Inkscape
works. I've watched video after video (YouTube) and I'm still lost and then I get so mad I just quite thinking by now there probably isn't a lot of decals that haven't already been downloaded. The one problem I have when playing my GT Sport game is when I go to the decals that have already been downloaded there are so many and most of them don't have a single thing to do with racing or ones that you would want to p[ut on your car. I with that they would have made some restrictions when it came to the types of decals you can upload. That would have eliminated some many off them. I have ordered the Inkscape manual (Amazon) hoping that it will help me. I wish
I could find a program that all I would need to do was select the file type and click a button and presto its done but so far I haven't been able to find
one.

Yeah, there really isn't one though. And even if there was, all it would do is automate the current process of autotracing bitmaps, simplifying them, optimizing them, and then hoping the finished thing was under 15kb... and even if they were, they'd still look like bad auto-traces. For best results, you really need to know how to start with a blank screen, and draw the decal yourself.... which I can appreciate, is a long way from ideal.

When it comes to stuff that's already been uploaded, it's best to use the discover section on the website, rather than in game, and when searching don't use more than one tag in your search.

What kind of thing are you trying to upload, can you post the original file here?

I have a couple of Vector files that I've downloaded. I will attach the file here that way you can see what kind of files I'm trying to upload.

I've only opened the FM helmets logo, but the problem there is that, what I guess is supposed to be a metallic style fade, has been drawn as about 125 separate rectangles (2495 nodes! shown as the red mess below!), this takes up quite a bit of file size compared to just using a gradient fill because as well as using 2495 nodes to draw all the rectangles, it has to define a colour for each one.

So, if it's any consolation, there's not much more you could do without redrawing things yourself. If no one beats me to it I'll have a proper look later.

I'm not sure what happened but one day I was transferring these files to another device and when I open some of the files parts where missing. I've attached a couple of new ones that
I know are good.

Did you download these files from somewhere else or did you try and draw them?

I've had a play with the first three...

All needed their white backgrounds deleted.
On FM Helmets, I made the gray fade on the text with a gradient instead, and re-constructed the red and yellow slashes to use a few less nodes.
On Caberg I deleted the black shape behind the grey ovals and created the black border using a stoke effect. Tweaked the proportions of the letters a bit too.
On the RCR decal, I just deleted a handful of superfluous nodes and made the page size fit the decal.

Once I'd done that, they were all under the 15kb limit with no other optimisation required. They weren't far off being right.

I've attached a Zip with the three of them, this is how they look in the uploader and game...

I'm using Inkscape to make any changes to the image. Although I'm a new user to Inkscape so if there's is another way that may be easer let me know. I have a lot of vector files that are well over the 15kb limit and I'm not sure what's the best way to make the files under the 15kb limit. Any help you can give me would be great and thanks you for spending the time to respond to my question.

I downloaded them from a free vector site. I have tons of them that I need to fix so that they are able to upload them. What are you program are you using to convert them? If you want I could send you so more of the files I have so you can covert and use them if you want me to. If you would like me to send these file to you let me know how you want me to send them to you.

Here are more if you want to edit them and use them. And if you do would you also send them to me. Thanks for doing those 3 for me. I'm trying to learn how to use Inkscape so I can edit them my self.

I've merged your 3 posts together, but what exactly do you want us to do with that zip file that contains 415 files? (many of which are svg files under 15kb...)

Ok thanks for doing that and as far as the zip file you can do what ever you want with it. I didn't know if you wanted to convert them and keep them for your own or you can trash them. But if you do keep them and covert them would you Please send me the one's you fix. Thanks again for all of you help. Like I said before I'm new to all of this and I hate searching through all of those decals looking for one's that I want to add to my files. What software do you use to covert these file? I'm trying to learn Inkscape and so far its a little rough. I was hoping that there was a really easy way to covert some of these larger files into a smaller file with just a push of a button.

A quick look through the files would indicate that the vast majority of them have been done already and are there in the discovery section for you to find and use. I'm not making svgs for you if they have already been done and you just can't be bothered to look for them. There is no point to that.

What software do you use to covert these file?
I use vectormagic and inkscape, but it's not a simple case of converting the file. You can't just open a jpeg > file > save as > svg. That doesn't work as that's not how svg files work.

No, there isn't.

Why is it after I've uploaded my decals in the GT Sport Uploader I will see some of them with things missing or cut in half and some of them are blank screens.

This sounds like a sizing issue, allways resize the page to the drawing

I think you are using Inkscape so CTRL+SHIFT+D opens the document properties, then there is a Resize page to content option in the Custom Size box.

I find it best to do this after a select all.

The code Inkscape generates can sometimes be interpreted wrongly by GTS which can lead to what looks like a empty file in the game, so it could also be that.

Always save either as Plain SVG or Optimised SVG, sometimes running the files through SVGO webpage can solve problems with files in game as well.
