Hi guys,

I've done a bit of reading and I see that the G27 shifter pole is non threaded and 8mm, so normal knobs don't work. The stock knob screws in from the top of the pole. So far, all I've seen on youtube is people shoving tape to make a tight fit for aftermarket knobs.

The stock knob is only 40g I weighed it.

Would you guys think 300g knob is too heavy?

Or would you guys recommend staying under 200g?

Effort shifting is reduced with a heavier knob......I don't think there would be any issue unless it's over 600g then the shift feeling will be very light?

I bought a $15 shift knob from wally world, had multiple adapters and shift patterns, including the right ones.

I swapped mine for a chunky faux leather one, used insulation tape to make a snug fit. It's not moved or gone crooked so keep it tight and you'll be fine no matter what you use. Just make sure it's not too big for the pole otherwise it will become top heavy and awkward to grab because of the d-pad / button box location.

How do you guys find the weight of your new knob? I find the stock knob to be very light- I assume you guys have heavier knobs, is it any better?

Would you recommend heavy or light? I'm looking at this green shift knob, 9cm in height, it's big I like it; raises the shift knob higher without the need of an extension.

Mine is lightweight and no taller than the stock one.

Here you go. I had a spare shift knob laying around from my 03 Cobra. The threaded insert is a 12mm x 1.75. I simply took a piece of heat shrink and applied it to the out side of the shift rod. Then just screw the shift knob on. It cut it's own threads into the heat shrink and works perfectly. It tightened down tight and hasn't moved at all since I installed it a month ago.
