Well, as is customary for my computer...it gives me one big problem every so often, and well i guess last night it was time for another one since its been working alright for awhile. I was online, doin my online thing, when the computer just decided to overload and freeze up...so i reset it, as was the only thing i could do, and i get the bootup screen and whatnot, then the screen that asks me if i wanna go into safemode...only, when i tell it to, it does nothing. if i tell it to go to normal mode, it does nothing. im not sure what the other 2 things are that are there so im not touchin em. but i popped the startup disk in, got into dos, and all my programs are there thankfully, so at least nothing easily noticeable has been deleted. But you know how windows has the system restore that lets you restore from save points it automatically makes? Is there a way to access and run this from dos? cuz i cant seem to find it. I did this once a while back when my computer wouldnt boot up on me and i dont know what the hell i did or how i did it

This happened to me two nights ago. XP locked up and would not boot. What version of Windows do you have? This is a common problem on 2000/XP systems.

well i figured out how to run the system restore from dos....but i dont think its doing anything. just sits there and says "backing up files..." and does nothing, i dont hear anything working, dont see anything moving or blinking on the screen... but im letting it sit for awhile in case it is doing somthing...grr...
