I have a problem with my T500RS, in getting it the way I wanted it, so I'm going to post a guide here that I'll update with the communities help, regarding what all of these settings mean, first with my 'understanding', but they're all subject to change with feedback.
This menu in Windows (7) is available under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > T500 RS Racing Wheel - Right Click > Game controller settings > Properties
Test Input
Wheel
Default - Sets Rotation/Angle: to 900°
Rotation/Angle: 40°-1080° - 1080° - This is the maximum rotational value given to the wheel, for example 360° will allow one full rotation left or right
Point of View hat-switch
non-adjustable, tests all 8 directions of the arrows
Pedals
Slider 0 / Clutch
Y Axis / Brake
RZ Axis / Gas (Accelerator)
Separate (Default) - All three pedals are separate, starting with 0% input, up to 100% input depending on your position on the pedal
Combined - Adds the RZ Axis and Y Axis together under the Y Axis section. Full Brake sets Y Axis to 0% and Full Gas sets Y Axis to 100%. This does not appear to alter clutch, which is the same as before
Buttons
Buttons 1 through 13 can be tested individually to ensure they're functional, these are non-adjustable
Check for Update
Allows for updating the Control Panel via the Thrustmaster FTP Server
Test Forces
No configuration is possible under this section, 12 different test force examples are given to try on the wheel - not recommended to be holding on for these tests
Gain Settings
Master Gain Settings
Overall Strength of all forces 0%-100% - 100% - Sets relative value of all the individual forces shown below
Detailed Gain Settings
Constant
0%-100% - 100% - Sets relative value of all the individual forces shown below
Periodic
0%-100% - 100% - Sets relative value of all the individual forces shownOveral Strength of all forces
Spring
0%-100% - 100% - Sets relative value of all the individual forcesOveral Strength of all forces
Damper (also affects the weight of the wheel)
0%-100% - 100% - Sets relative value of all the individual forces shown below
Auto-Center Settings
by the wheel - Auto-center properties are retained via the wheel's on board settings
by the game (Recommended) - Auto-center properties are given by the application the wheel is used with
Ok so my personal problem is, in GT6, hands off or on the wheel, it jitters slightly in my hand, I think previously my G27 had a tiny deadzone which meant when going straight I didn't have this problem, however with the T500, I'm constantly making tiny corrections, just to stop it doing this small jitter, and I want to wipe it out, my settings are posted above, could anyone please assist me to understand which values I need to alter to stop this from happening? I hope my problem makes sense. Straight road, it jiggles/jutters in the middle, if left entirely alone (no hands) accelerating, the wheel jitter increases left to right, until it spins out of control (in 5-6 seconds?).
First thing I'm trying is setting it to "by the wheel" and putting in a 0% value.
EDIT: I believe "by the wheel" helped slightly, but didn't resolve my issue.
I then individually tried lowering all of the Detailed Gain Settings to 0%, leaving the Master Gain at 100% each time, I used the same car and track, restarting and testing a few corners, there seemed to be no appreciable difference.
Which prompts me to ask the further question - are these settings even relevant for the PS3? If not, is there a way to alter the PS3's settings?
