Hello,

I need help configuring my T500RS which I only use for GT5 (and hopefully soon GT6:))

I have installed the realistic brake mod, but only get approx 20% braking force and pedal only travels about 3/4 an inch. WTF am I doing wrong? I have contacted Gamesmen whom purchased from and even sent them pictures of how installed and appears to be correct. With the mod installed, when I brake in GT5 it takes about 100 metres to slowly coast to a stop.

I have updated to latest firmware V41. Even when I use the Thrustmaster configuration tool via PC it only shows my brake pedal travel to be approx 10-20%. I have tried everything I have read (i.e. pumping brake pedal etc). I cannot adjust the brake pedal slider in the config tool?

What am I doing wrong? Please help, very frustrated.

Yes. Have read many threads and tried everything. Other threads advise to pump after wheel has calibrated, and/or before start off race etc. Are you suggesting I hold down brake pedal as Gt5 is booting up? Is the very reduced travel distance normal? Thanks for trying to help.

just press brake pedal after wheel auto calibrates (spins). usually I do this before loading GT5, since my wheel is plugged in before I turn on PS3

FYI on TS website
Brake pedal with the "Realistic Brake" mod: if you have trouble reaching the maximum calibration values for the brake pedal: briefly stand on the pedal to reach the maximum values, then release the pedal.

You're probably don't push down hard enough on the brake pedal to let it 'notice' the brake mod is installed.

Also just boot up the game. When the wheel has calibrated when the game launches and you are in the main menu, than you step on the brake pedal as hard as you can.
You can also do this while in a race or free practice so you can watch the brake bar in the HUD. If you do than you should notice that at first it only goes up to 25% (if I remember well, but could be up to 40% ish) and then if you push beyond that certain threshold, the brake pedal calibrates and shoots up to 100% brake pressure.

Thank you, I'll give it a try again tonight. Though unsure about how hard I should be pressing, I was worried last time I was going to bust it I was standing on it that hard. I don't want to sound like a dick, but unsure how the game can recognise the realistic brake mod is installed when in a race as it's a mechanical mod, not electronic. Anyway thanks again for the input.

I had the same problem with mine. At the start of the game the brake is not set to full lock. I have to take a car out for a speed run or run a hot lap to get it to go to full lock. It does this every time. Funny glitch but my G27 perfect pedal did the same thing. Just go do a test lap some where and then enter what ever race you want . The best way to know it has be calibrated after the test session is use the brake as the back button. If it works as the back button you know it now has been calibrated correctly.

The following is all that should be necessary on GT5:

Once the game starts and the wheel has calibrated the second time and stopped moving (it does it when the console is turned on then again once the game loads) press the brake pedal down hard all the way for about 1 second. If you don't trust it, go into a practice session and at the start, press the brake the same way and you will see it do what Logiforce said regarding it going part way then jumping to full.

Also, make sure the Thrustmaster brake mod plate is installed as far back as possible while still using all 4 screws to mount it. If it's too close this can cause the calibration not to work properly.

If all of this fails, the pot could be an issue and you should contact Thrustmaster.

The above calibration process is necessary after each time you see the wheel rim spin to calibrate itself. For example, if you leave the game completely and go back in. The rim spins, you need to calibrate the brake pedal.

Believe it or not, most wheels out there do this, you just don't notice because of the way the brake pedal is set up.

To summarize:

1. Turn on console.
2. Let wheel rim spin to calibrate.
3. Load GT5.
4. Let wheel rim spin to calibrate.
5. After rim stops spinning. Press brake pedal down hard fully and hold for a moment, then release pedal.

That should be it.

Thank you mrbasher, greatly appreciate that. I think my pot must have failed. Hopefully Thrustmaster will play ball.....
