T500rs or T300rs??

Hi mate!

I just took a quick look, and probably some expert could give some good and qualified advice, but, for me, the main difference is not having clutch nor manual gearbox. I mean, driving Senna's F3 with clutch and manual gearbox in the interior view is almost porn.

On the other side, seems that T500rs is more "PS4 ready", while T300rs is only compatible. Also, is slightly bigger (T500rs), wich will give better precission while turning. A con for me (and I think that both of them are this way) is that the paddles don't turn with the wheel, they are fixed to the base. I prefer them turning with the wheel.

As I said, we would wait to some expert on the matter to clarify all this ;)

But, if I were you, only for having clutch and gearbox I would go for the 500rs.

Aaaaargggh, this is difficult!! T300 has some brushless new system but that clutch would defenetly be a lot of fun, and I think t500 pedals would be somehow better...

And t300 is the "offical" wheel for gt6 hmmm... I need to make this decision fast!!!

@ODB I have the T300rs 👍. I changed from the G27 during the KTM at SoW and Integra at Bathurst TT's.
I'm using the T300rs wheel with the G27 pedals. Which I find a great combo.
I'm now ready for any good PS4 racing games!! (PCars :dopey:)

In my opinion the T300rs wheel is a good upgrade from the G27.....
.... however, comparing the two sets of pedals, the T300 pedals are just good for spare, in case of an emergency.
The paddle shifters are attached to the wheel, same as the G27 on the T300rs 👍
I don't have the thrustmaster shifter yet, so can't comment on that.

Check out this thread. There is a link in the OP for the Ricmotech adapter for the G27 pedals 👍.

You got the PS4 compatibility the wrong way around, T300RS is only FFB wheel fully compatible on PS4, T500RS is partial.

T300 seems a better wheel to get if you want faster lap times compared to T500RS. Only issue is the pedals which can always be upgraded from.

Out of interest, I assume you used it on the recent Apricot Hill Raceway TT, how did you find feeling of the limit of car compared to the G27 on any TT?

Yes, thank you guys a million times, I think I can now order that T300 with peacefull mind!! My driving force pro wheel is really starting to give up, and I think pedals can't be mutch worst in t300 than what I currently have

Thank you all!!! This is very important, as you guys can probably understand

Yes, I used it for the Apricot hill TT. The G27 wheel has been packed away, along with the T300 pedals .

The T300rs is just better in all aspects. It's so smooth and powerful, that I get so much more info through the wheel.
The G27 rattles and clatters about, which gets in the way of the info coming through the wheel.
I have found that I can catch slides better and my extremely poor drifting has improved :dopey:.

I find it difficult to describe the FFB and give accurate assessments on wheels....
...I only switched from DS3 to the G27 in April of this year. I'm still a bit of a noob in wheel stuff :embarrassed:..

Hehe... :dopey: As I said, I'm far from being an expert and I just took a quick look to Thrustmaster's webpage. I posted just to give a friend my amateur point of view ;)

BTW, what did you mean with partial compatibility? I'm also interested because whenever I jump into PS4 I'll buy a new wheel.

Make sure you go through the thread I linked @ODB There have been some disappointed people reporting issues with the T300 pedals 👍.

Hahaha, ok, I look it trough, it's a big money to spend so every detail matters. I just want that damn wheel as fast as possible!

I've had my T300 for a while now still in box  as I need to finish couple of games that don't support the new Thrustmaster wheels before switching. Need to make some space to check if it works though so hopefully I can do that soon. Good to hear about the T300 being an improvement over the G27 and is competitive wheel, if I'm slow with it then I know it is me that needs to improve or it could be faulty ;). Impressive uptake on using the wheel by the way 👍, on you way to becoming a super alien it seems :scared:.

Only works in games that support it, no Share or Option button functionality and doesn't work on PS4 menus if I recall correctly.

It seems out of stock a lot of the times so hopefully the new stock has fixed the issue in production 👍.

The T300 is the wheel of choice. But you will need to upgrade the pedals and get the shifter just to match the T500's capabilities.
Total cost up towards $700.

For the money ($450 on amazon), the T500 is the best out-of-the-box solution on the market. Good, sturdy, stock pedals and shifter is compelling.

By the time GT7 comes to the PS4, compatability will not be an issue for any wheel. They will make them work. If I were to find a great deal on a G27, I wouldn't be scared to buy it.

@eclipsee might be able to advise.

He's just about as fast as they come and I know he had a T500 for a while and went back to a G27.

I can't remember the details of the discussion we had some time back when I asked him if it was worth me getting a T500, but I think the simplified answer was 'not if you're buying it to try and go quicker'. There may have been some comments about lack of speed of response/rotation vs G27, but I'm not 100% sure... he'll likely fill in the gaps.

God damn it!! I'd rather be choosing a new apartment

But ok, my current wheel is old and it's starting to slide and stick in a wrong position and gear change is having problems from time to time, online racing is rather frustrating when my wheel is on 15decree angle when tires are straight  Pedals are great but it has been matter of getting used to them.

So I think I have to go with t300 and figure out later what I do with pedals. T500 seems to be mostly out of stock here in finland, so I could just pick up the t300 tomorrow and get on with it!

If you guys have more thoughts on this one, keep em coming.

And yeah, thanks guys for helping, much appreciated

I don't think that Logitech will make it into the PS4 market...

I think it is in PDI's best interest, in a huge way, to bring over the existing Logitech wheels. They will do whatever it takes to make the Logitech DFGT, built for Gran Turismo, work. And if the DFGT, the others will as well. They will not be fully supported for the PS4, but they would certainly work.

That being said, if I were buying a wheel for the PS4 and money was not an object, I would get the T300 with proper pedals and shifter.

If I had the budget to spend $400 or less, I'd get the T500.

If my budget was in the $150-$200 range, the G27 is an awesome wheel/pedal set with mods.

I think patience will be rewarded on the T500 to some degree. It theoretically will continue to drop in price, to a point.

The G27, being a bit risky, will continue to drop until it is confirmed to work for the PS4. Once it is confirmed to work for the PS4, its price will escalate back to normal.

It wasn't a T500, what I bought was a Fanatec CSR, that by the way it's collecting dust, IIRC @EDK and @Hyper-Dan have a T500, maybe they might be able to advise.

Anyway, I don't think an expensive steering wheel will make you faster, but a good set of pedals can make the trick.

Well I just have to hope those T300 pedals aren't total crap, already made the order for it so hopefully we'll see next weeks can I use them...

And I think good set of nerves could easily make me faster, anyone got a spare?

I don't have some for spare but you can train yours, once you fail epically a good lap one gazillion times and you don't feel the need to jump out the window or destroy your steering wheel, your nerves will be colder the next time because you'll be used to frustration and epic fails will be a second nature, every time you fail you are not wasting your time, it's part of the training, call it "philosophy" or "patience" if you want. :D

Thanks for the encouragement 👍 I've been doing this TT stuff for almost a year now, and as I have been going trough many many huge disappointments by failing great lap times over stupid and nervous mistakes, it really doesn't feel as bad as it used to, but there's still a long long road to travel to become an "ice man"

Edit: or if I'm more precise it still feels like 🤬 every time, but I don't get as nervous as I used to 👍
