Would anyone tell me if a Toyota Celica 1600GT (TA22) is good enough for drifting? I can drift in it but I'm wondering if the car is as good compared to the JDM cars.

From attempting to slide this myself, I noticed the car doesn't live up to the ability of a more common car for drifting. The car is good, but in my honest opinion it would lose against a car like... a 240SX for example.....

Any car can drift (Except a 2CV). You have seen me drifting my AE86 right, I'm sure you noticed how the car looks better drifting, and the TA22 tends to lose power and stability on a corner. Also remember, as this is certainly an old car, it's body is supported by light, flexible wheels. I saw the car kind of tilting to the side when drifting, putting so much pressure on a tyre that causes you to slow down, and in common sense, you need speed to hold a good drift.

The car looks great at the Nurburgring, yet what it has in style, it lacks in ability.

Insert tuning here. If the car doesn't perform to your standards it can be adjusted for better suiting your style. It should be plenty powerful enough/light enough to tune into a respectable drift car.

Can it be drifted yes..Can it keep up with some of the newer drift machines, that's up for debate. Can a VW Karman Ghia be drifted with less than 130 HP, the answer is yes and it's a blast. This car can be adjusted like Mysterious R suggested, it just needs some tweaking here and there. The car weighs practically nothing and if you have at least 150-200 HP that should be enough to get some decent drifts out of it.

You feel 150 to 200HP? I always tried 250 to 300HP, as if I start to oversteer in a drift, I can keep it going with some gas! :dopey:

This is closed. I now have great drift settings for my TA22. The HP is now 229 giving it enough power to drift.
