I'm a console gamer and don't have much experience with PCs. I am looking to buy/build a PC so I can start PC sim racing. I am also interested in buying a tablet and thought maybe I can hit two birds with one stone.

I just recently saw the Razer Edge Pro tablet and was wondering if it would be able to run sim racing games on med/high settings. I was hoping to be able to connect the tablet to my big screen tv and mirror it when using my wheel.

Any thoughts?

Try Real Racing (3 is free today in the App Store) on your smartphone. Similar to the SIXAXIS, it's a novelty IMO. It's a step below using a DS3, which is far below a FFB wheel.

It's a nice idea, but doesn't transfer well, for me anyway. I wouldn't buy any tablet just to play a racing game. Unless you've god a wad of cash burning like thermite through your pocket.

Haha I'm actually downloading RR3 as we speak for my iphone.

But I was actually wondering about the Razer Edge tablet. I want to play PC games like Rfactor. This tablet runs Windows 8 and claims to work exactly like a PC and can play all PC games.

I found the tech specs online. Is it powerful enough to run PC sim racing games? Click link for specs.

Yeah, that would play all but the latest sims for sure. It might also play the more recent ones on its own display but for plugging it in to an HDMI device for 1080p it may start to struggle, I'm not sure, I'm not all that familiar with mobile tech and how it equates to desktop versions. I think the 640M is supposed to be quite good for a mobile device.

$1449.99 for the 256GB version

$249.99 for the game pad controller
or
$99.99 for the docking station.

Seems a little pricey to me.

You'll probably be able to play normal racing sims for pc on it but it's probably gonna be on lower or low-medium setup.

I personnaly wouldnt buy it, it's far too pricy for a tablet even if it's for gaming. With that you can probably buy a decent PC that will runs game far better.

Now it all depends on why you want a tablet. If it's because you travel all the time and want something you can carry around and play game with it then ok. If it's just because the trend now is to have a tablet and you want one I'm not sure it's really worth it especially if you want to play game like iracing, rfactor or simraceway.

I'm getting a lot from all your opinions. Playing on low settings doesn't really appeal to me. And I'm guessing upgrading parts really wouldn't be an option.

Looks like back to the drawing board on building a PC.

I think it's the best way unless you want a laptop/tablet solution. For 1800 dollars which is the price of the tablet with the controller and the dock you can probably get a decent PC with a controller and maybe even a G27.

$1800 could get you an absolute monster pc for racing games. I don't know how much tablets are but I reckon you could easily get both the pc and tablet for 1800, and play on highest settings for 95% of racing games
