On my birthday this year my big brother and I went for a nice drive in the great north woods of New Hampshire. We were speeding along when i red flash caught my eye. I asked him to stop and turn round, he too saw what I did. A poor little Eagle Talon was sitting in the woods all alone. We noticed a driveway not far from it and we drove to see what we could do. I knocked on the door and asked the man what he was going to do with the Talon. He said that he was just going to leave it or scrape it. I immediately took out my wallet and offered him $450 for it. I was not going to let this little car suffer this terrible fate. He agreed to it and he even offered to tow it down for us. Its been at my house for a few months now recuperating and its won me over. I've decided to give her a name which is Alyssa (named after my first pet). She is the bottom of the range, but I could care less. My big brothers eclipse has got 300hp and I've got a tiny 140hp in comparison, but she puts a huge smile on my face just when I look out the living room window and thats all that matters to me.

Taken the day we found her:

Going to order a new belt tensioner, than probably have my brother drive it to school so the auto class can go over it to make sure that my brother and I are working on it correctly (which I'm proud to say I think we are).

Nice car. Love the brother dynamic 👍

Yes upgrading rear is possible. May be even there are kits out there. Just always think, if you upgrade the rear, you should do the front too as to not upset the brake bias

Thanks! I'm going to browse online to see if there is a kit for this car, the front brakes need to be replaced too.

My brothers friend was taken Alyssa to get buffed and washed, he is also going to replace the front bumper and get the plasti-dip off the hood (my bro has to work a lot this week and I have lots of test to study for).

That is a great starter car and even better you and your bro are working on it together. I don't have a lot of knowledge about the Talon. Is it AWD? If it is AWD it will be even better for the winter if you are in the northern climate.

Non turbo = front wheel drive.

its basically an Eclipse GS

Thank you. Never knew that. 👍 Come to think of it, I think the Stealth cars might be the same way. Non turbo is FWD. Turbo is AWD.

This is her after months of tender love and care (Just got her back from my bros friend today and don't worry the door didn't hit)

Looks great especially with the black plastic dip removed from the hood and the front bumper replaced / repaired. That is a very good picture. Such a nice first car. Someone did an excellent job repairing the damage in the front.

You saved her, nice!

Looks great, if you don't want to buy a special compound, toothpaste actually works surprisingly well for clearing up foggy headlights 👍

Sorry for the lack of updates, been busy with school work, but I finally got to take her out after all the work was done! My mom was a bit nervous, but we survived haha. I have to admit I did stall a few times (which I'm a bit embarrassed about) other than that I was the happiest kid in the world.

Congrats and don't worry about the stalling. Best way to learn is to keep practicing. 👍

Gorgeous little thing, hope you continue to enjoy it as much as you are, I just hope one day I become as lucky as you did with finding abandoned cars. I did, however, notice an abandoned Fiero near my home :mischievous:

I was kinda nervous following you lol, jk your doing great, maybe I'll let you drive Sarah this week. (And you welcome for helping you paint your mirrors black again lol) ;)

Thanks! I like to think that the car herself even looks happier now than she did when I first found here, good luck with the Fiero!

Alyssa is going to be put in my grandparents garage soon, don't want her sitting out when the snow comes. Other than that I'm looking to lower her a tiny bit, nothing major, and possible some nicer wheels if I get the money.

Smart decision. You do not want vehicles sitting out in the snow the entire winter. 👍

Got to drive @Astroboy2215 's Sarah before she got stored for winter. All I have got to say was that it was one of the scariest things I have ever done lol. It was so easy to get going fast. The hardest part was the clutch, definitely not as easy as Alyssa's.
