I gave my Toyota GT-One every upgrade, put the gear ratio all the way up, and made the nitro give a much power as possible and WHAT DO I GET?!?!? 294 mph. Whoop-de-doo. How do you guys get it over 300mph?!?!?

Also, could you tell me how to do it on the Toyota 88C-V?

You don't necessarily want your gear ratio as tall as you can get it. If it is too tall (too small a final drive ratio number), the car may not have enough power to overcome wind resistance. Drag functions along a non-linear curve, so it takes MUCH more power to go SOME faster. You want to adjust your final drive so that the car is topping out just below the rev limiter

So I should just lower the gear ratio from what it is now (which is all the way wide) untill I get it just right? What should I do with the downforce, if that helps?

downforce = 0

gear ratios = less then all the way wide.

start somewhere in the middle, give it a try... if you run out of gear, adjust slightly accordingly.

Yes about the gear ratio. You want your car to redline or at least be right at the max torque curve for optimal performance just as your about to make the next turn.
Downforce will have to be adjusted up to keep the car on the ground and easy to handle. With no downforce the car will be all over the road once you are over 200mph thus causing you to spin out or hit a wall. I assume your at Test course to check the top speed?

You want it to just get into the red in top gear and not be able to turn any faster ... basically. That will be the engine working as hard as it possibly can to propel you forward as fast as it possibly can.

Okay, I tried screwing around with the downforce and gear ratios and I STILL get a dinky 294mph. What do I have do next to make it happen, say please?
