I just got a crazy idea... I was thinking about what PD should do for the next game, since its starting to get close to perfection in my opinion...

The first thing that popped up was more tracks and cars and a new user interface. Just leave everything else (graphics, physics, damage) as is.
That would leave more time to work on more tracks. I would like to see 50 or more tracks.

But then it came to me, they should add something like a online or networked team mode! Imagine something like le mans where you have up to 3 drivers for one car, and the pit crew, the mechanics and the team leader who monitors everything and gives orders to the drivers. All operated by real persons live in the race!

This way the win is decided by the best team effort, just like in the real world:)

Maybe just me letting my imagination getting wild.. Don't know, what do you think?

There's a lot of logistics involved in your vision. Say there's 16 teams, and you say 3 drivers each, one team principal making the decisions on strategy, etc., they need to be logged in practically at all times. You've got 64 people right there, and all need to have a flawless connection, otherwise the whole thing goes down the drain...I'm doubtful.

There's less of a problem, if there's fewer dependencies, but that scenario would be difficult to implement.

I see your point:) but i guess its possible to scale it down a bit, maybe combine some roles, allow changing of roles and still get something very cool out of it, something no other game has ( I think).

as kaz said before, one of the biggest problems is not the ps3 hardware, but also the "poor" network connection, especially in europe, which is nowhere near the speed of the japanese one....

But, do think this would require a lot of bandwith?

Why don't you just call over some friends and do the team thing locally? Seems like it would be a much more fun and social experience, which is the whole point of this idea?

Yes it is:) but it would have been nicer if everyone had their own screen and controllers... And a GUI for it:)

This idea fully fleshed out would definitely be a problem because of the network being dependent on everyone having a super fast connection at there disposal.

I love the idea of the "team or clan as it would be known in other games", where there could be team races / comps online in there own section with leagues and leaderboards for your teams results. Just simple 4 vs 4 or 6 vs 6 whatever you like, racing each other and you would be awarded points and credits yourself in the normal way, but your overall team performance, like coming in 1, 2 & 3, or having less penalties for example would get you team performance points. Sorry for rambling, just thought it could also work like that in a simplified form. :D

Heh, cute idea popped into my head: The pit crew could change the tires on the car using Sony's new motion controller.

I think it would be cool to have something like this but during the GT mode, to play through with a friend if they are available. I just finished GRID and it was cool having a team mate, it would be better if the team mate could be an actual person

That would work too... At least it wouldn't use any more bandwidth than usual..
