I'm sure you've all seen Ted And Sue Richardson's '62 Buick.

If you haven't... check it out.
A couple from Grant Pass Oregon built a Real world GT4 style '62 Special that was so cool it found it's way into GT4

This Car Won Numerous Awards and Accolades.

Turns out that in February of 2010 Ted and Sue died in a murder suicide, perpetrated by Ted himself.

As most of these things go, it never made headline news.
My Question is... Where is BuWicked?
It's been three years now, am I the only person to put this one together.
We've got no auction records, no car shows after 2010, I mean Nothing.
Typically within a few years the cars surface...

edit: to clarify the order of events; car first, then game.

I'd guess the car's part of the estate so maybe it's taking a long time to settle claims given the tragic circumstances?

When the car does resurface (if it ever does) the story will add a certain cachet to its reputation, sad but inevitable.

I remember that car from GT4! It was one of my favorites alongside the HPA Golf that I used for tons of the events in GT4.

I think this goes here and possibly here. Very nice post though. :)

He doesn't request it in the game (because it already is...check under Buick). I guess he's wondering where the original is. And just to clarify: They didn't build it by inspiration from the game. It's in the game because of it's awesomeness ;-)

It probably was abandonded. If it isn't standing somewhere collecting dust, it probably has been brought to the scrapyard.

Hence 'and possibly here', I didn't know if it was the model in GT6. And if he's wondering where the original is, what does that have to do with GT6?

See, now that makes it seem like I have a problem with this thread, which I don't. It's actually well thought out, much better than the average first post on GTP. I was just trying to point out potentially more relevant locations for this discussion, especially seeing as my first link is to a section where people can help, rather than just being pedantic :censored:s like me.

That made me think that perhaps he meant that the Richardsons tried to build something that looked like the car in the game. The fact that the car is in GT6 has, of course, nothing to do with where it actually is :) I just hope that it's still intact and will be able to cruise the streets once again.

Hehe. There are not enough of those pedantic :censored:s

It was the first SEMA car put into the game, the car was already built when it was put into GT4.

It probably was abandonded. If it isn't standing somewhere collecting dust, it probably has been brought to the scrapyard.
I really doubt that, his kids probably have it now or they sold it. No one in there right mind would scrap that car, it probably cost over $100,000 to build.

You're absolutely right.
If a Mod Could Move This Thread to whichever section is more appropriate, That Would Be Awesome.
Sorry I put it in the wrong section.

You are both are correct, My wording was off, so I'll edit the original post.

I haven't seen any record of the car at auction though.

"No one in there right mind would scrap that car" - but does anyone know the story behind Hot Rod Magazine's Crusher Camaro
Short Version for Anyone Interested:
-In the mid 90s The Government gives oil companies smog credits for each car they crush (most of the cars were crap and thus we have no more AMC Pacers.)
-Hot Rod Magazine Editor Notices a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Lined up to be crushed and buys it for 700 bucks.
Long Version for the Gear-Heads:

NEW INFO... Regarding the Estate:
A little digging shows that Ted T. Richardson Owned This Property:
http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/918-N-Pinnon-Rd-Grants-Pass-OR-97526/60790908_zpid/
Which was sold in September of 2010 at the bottom of the recession for $100k MORE than the Appraised Value of the Home.

I'm pretty sure I still have the issues of Custom Rodder and (I think) Popular Hot Rodding that featured the dang thing. It intrigued me because it's the same year/model car my dad drove my mom to the hospital in before I was born.

You mean this article?
http://image.popularhotrodding.com/f/37840287/Ryan+Butler+Builds.pdf

Turns out Ryan Butler the guy who built the car passed away at the age of 32.

This Buick might be cursed.

Is there a VIN number placed inside the BuWicked? If able to we can see it's fate if it was scrapped or abandoned, under new ownership, or still somewhere else.

Well thats what I've been working on...

Unfortunately all we have is an Oregon plate BU WIKD (seen in press release photos) and to get a VIN from that we need a Private Investigator.
And I have no guarantee that wasn't just a show plate.

None of the online locations I've seen want anything less than about 40 bucks to look-up a plate.
Catch is... you still need to have a legitimate reason to know the information.

Apparently, "because I want to know where the car is" sounds ALOT like "grand theft auto" as far as the Oregon DMV is concerned.

I noticed a car partially matching the description, but I don't really think it's buWicked:

I watch roadkill so yes I know about the crusher Camaro. That's completely different though, it was a $700 car and the Buick is probably a $100,000 car.

Well I guess that solves that mystery though I'd like to see some proof of that.

I had no idea that those two lived in Grants Pass, because I've lived here in Grants Pass since I was 2. I don't remember seeing that car at Back to the Fifties (a car show that happens every summer here). Can't believe that this car came from Grants Pass. The Jay Leno Tank Car was built here too by Blastolene, so I guess that makes two cars in Gran Turismo that came from Grants Pass, a town that would have probably no significance otherwise.

It's a real shame how they died though.

Old thread…kind of a long shot but I’m trying to hunt down the 67 nova that won street machine of the year in 2001. Which was also owned by Ted & Sue.

Also @ThrasherDBS the nova & buwickd were both built in Washington and I can for sure confirm that they were in Gp as I had been to teds house a few times and ridden in both cars. The nova made it to “back to the 50’s” but I don’t recall him ever bringing out the Buick. If anyone knows anything about the 67 nova I’d love to track it down
