HUG YOUR KIDS.

My beautiful 18 yr old daughter, Nikki, was killed saturdy night by a driver that got distracted by texting. She died instantly. You may have seen it on TV as it has spread nationwide. I did hug here before I started racing Saturday night and it only helps a little. She was actually killed while I was on here. You MUST do this before you race and cheerish every second with them. You never know when God needs another Angel.

Please say a prayer for Nikki, if every member just said a quick prayer, I think that would be like 30 thousand prayers. Also, if you did see it on TV, I would love to hear how far it spread.

Thank you all so much and I'll see you on the track soon!

Beautiful girl, too.

The sooner they ban texting and driving, the sooner this stops happening. :(

Banned in Canada as well, but idiots still do it. Look at drinking and driving, that's been illegal forever and people are still killed everyday due to drunk driving accidents. RIP to her though, it's a real shame, the good ones always go first :(

It is illegal in Alberta to talk on a cell phone or text, in fact it is call the "distraction" law while driving and covers things like grooming, applying makeup etc... A friend of the family got stopped by a policeman and charged for putting a toothpick in her mouth, the Judge threw it out.

Banned in Canada as well,

Not everywhere in Canada.

In California it's illegal to talk on the phone and drive, but legal to text and drive.

not true, but besides the point because even it being illegal won't stop these kinds of people from doing what they do. (texting/talking while driving, rolling stop signs, rolling right turns on red, reckless driving)

I think the driving education system needs a complete overhaul to emphasize the dangers but that's a whole other discussion

It is true and I agree with you. Just because the law exists doesn't mean people will follow. Especially the younger group of people.

Anyways, so sad. Is the text so important that you have to respond right away. Doubt it. :(

I drive commercially in Edmonton 5 days a week, I'm on the road about 7-8 hours a day and the percentage of drivers who I see talking on their Cell's has declined by exactly Zero since that law went into effect...

what surprises me more is the number of other commercial/professional drivers including those behind the wheel of 5-tons and Semi Tractor trailers who are on the phone ..... i see it everyday

I personally think the law is stupid.... I make an effort to pull over before answering the phone.. but apparently I've learned this is still illegal, you can't text while parked behind a train either?.. what if your engine is turned off?, apparently even if you are not actually driving your in violation .... what's better is the fact that the police are exempt from the same law.... police of all people should be setting an example which is probably part of the reason nobody is taking this seriously,,,unfortunately because law or no law people shouldn't driving while on the phone, and I think even more effective would be to shun this behavior the way we do with drunk driving...
