In 1972, Richard McCoy, Jr. hijacked a Pan Am(?) 727, demanding $500,000 and 4 parachutes. The plane landed at San Francisco Intl. and the FBI gave him the money and parachutes, but they bugged the parachutes, so they could track them. He escaped through the rear door of the 727. He was caught and sent to jail, but later escaped. He was killed when he was found a couple years later.

It's also worth mentioning that had this thread been refined a bit, I could've asked for non Arab acts of terror resulting in massive death and destruction, not some wacko taking hostages. In case you haven't noticed, contemporary Radical Muslim/Arab terrorists don't take hostages and make demands. They just kill. There is a difference.
Bin Laden's Jihad has ignited poor young men all across the Muslim world, including Southeast Asia. It does not say "take hostages and make demands." It says "Kill all Americans wherever and whenever possible."
Generalising is defined as drawing a general conclusion. Your conclusions are just that: General. From the acts of no more than 25 Arabs, you make the statement that we should be searching all the Arabs, and that 'little Ahmed got on the plane with nail clippers.' Color of their skin? That is ridiculous. Many Italians, are darker than Arabs. It's really not an issue of race since Arabs are caucasian. It's an issue of culture.
And if you think that airport security should be wasting their time on little kids and old ladies because the chance that they might be terrorists is equal to the chance that a young Arab man will be, then you are no better than the "yuppie liberals" you disdain for other reasons.
So then how do you judge who's an Arab or who isn't?

Is this some kind of stupid game? You already know this... the same way you can tell who is a hippie... the same way you can tell who is a hipster... the same way you can tell who is Italian... the same way you can tell who is a man and who is a woman... the same way you can tell who is Jewish... the same way you can tell who is a business traveler and who is a tourist... the same way you can tell who is rich and who is poor... Don't act like we all don't make assesments and judgements every single day. Don't act like we're completely helpless to know who is who and why they are there without a detailed history of every individual person. Is there a margin of error? Yup. Tough for them. And any reasonable Arab would understand that this is necessary and not take it personally.
If I went to an African country for instance, and that country was on the lookout for terrorists who have traditionally been white, I would expect to be scrutinized, and accept it.

You are talking about skin colour, right? Because earlier you said that Arabs couldn't be "found out" by the colour of their skin. Of course, what you're talking about above (rich/poor, business traveler/tourist, hippie, Jewish, man/woman) has all to do with actions, meaning, evidently, that you think Arabs act differently from all of us.

Women act differently from all of us? Jews? Poor people? Well, If that's how you can tell, fine. As long as you can tell.
Do we all act the same? Sure Arabs act diferently, just like Brits act different from Americans and Italians act different from Frenchmen. Is this a big surprise? Why does it bother you that you can see differences between people? It doesn't mean that the similarities are gone, or even ignored.

Except for their accent and some of the words they use, I don't really understand how Frenchmen, Italians, and Brits are any different from us. It doesn't matter, now, because this is completely off track, of course. But the point is that whether Arabs are judged by the colour of their skin or how they act, they're still being judged based on the actions of 19 men. And that shouldn't happen because they weren't associated with those men except by hertiage.
No, but answer the question. McVeigh rented a Ryder Truck and blew up the Federal Building. You're a white American who doesn't live on the coast. Want to be 'scrutinized' when renting cars based on the actions of one man who doesn't share your views even remotely?

You got it M5Power, french-separatists in the province of Quebec, they ended up killing one person and blew up a handfull of mailboxes. Today we're stuck with them in provincial government. They're trying to weed-out the english speaking people because they feel the english language is destroying their culture. They're so useless in government they have to send cancer patients to N.Y. State for treatment because all the medical specialists are leaving because of poor pay and the highest income tax in North America.

This is where I loose respect for them. Nelson Mandella had a speech, went on about USA and GWB. He reckons Bush is racist because Koffi Annan(sp?), that head guy in the UN is black and Bush isnt waiting or cooperating with the UN. Dumb ****er.

It also might be worthwhile to differentiate between therror threats, like a group of crackpots who take a plane to get attention, announce who they are and why they want, and always get busted, or the kind we see now, where death is the goal, and their goal is somehow buried under the canage they leave behind. The hijackers of 9/11 didn't make any demands. They just killed everyone they could.
