I see there is a Test Drive option in the Setup menu for races, but it seems to be inaccessible. Anyone figured out how to use it yet?

I thought we used to get a test drive (Time Trial) option, or am I thinking of another game. The only option seems to be a free play race and (presumably) adjusting the number of other racers.

From what I've seen so far there are two ways to enter test drive. You can either select it just before you start a race in career (you cannot select the track this way though and will be on whatever track the race is on)

Or you can get to it via freeplay. Select freeplay, select whatever track you like then select go to race, then choose the set up tab and it should be aceessable now

One can also set up a race from just one lap with no ai, might as well make some cash on that drive.

I tested one lap around Daytona speedway with no ai yielded 1000, 5 laps was 5200. With 24 cars on track it was 8800 for those 5 laps. But if you come in last place 1600... I was curious as I'm sure some others might.

I had read some where that test drive mode had been changed so that you could no longer pause, tweak, resume. Thankfully that is not the case.
While test drive is now buried a bit deeper and a little harder to find overall I think it is better than before. Just get in the car you want and go to free play. Under setup select the track you want to use then switch to the other tab and select go to race. Once the track has loaded click the setup tab again and test drive is available. It will be on the track you selected and you will be able to drive right away without having to wait for the track to load. You can pause, tweak, resume while on the test drive track, you can pause exit test drive, go to upgrades, buy parts, install them then go right back to test drive without having to pick and reload the track every time like you always had to do in the past. So overall it is an improvement IMO.
