Test Driver idea for Polyphony Digital Inc

Hi all,

I realise we have B-Spec drivers and the control your B-Spec aspect of the game.

What I would like is your own Test Driver who is capable of consistent laps times. So you can tune the car, send him/her back out and see if the settings improved the lap times. I personally can't do this as I'm not consistent enough or have a G27 etc.

If Sony really wanted to embellish the game they could make it so you test driver reports the handling characteristics and suggests ways to improve the handling.

Tuning must be a important aspect to the game else we wouldn't have so many 3rd party garages developing tunes. (the hard way).

GT5 could be an education tool for the masses. Throw in engineering concepts. Why shocks work the way thy do. What sway bars do. What turbo's do etc etc etc.

I'd be happy to spend a day on working up one tune with my test drivers.

And THEN Sony need to provide setup / track configuration save library. Go to Indy, load Indy setup and race. Go to Daytona, load the Daytona setup and race. And so on.

The whole "game" needs massive support for easy sharing and export / import of info between players.

So whoever knows the Polyphony Digital developers please pass this on to them.

Cheers.

Well said! Tuning is somewhat arbitrary and subjective to whoever is testing them. A dedicated test driver my PD will make this much much more objective over all.

3D simulator inside a 3D simulator

One would also need a test track, so the idea of a driver test driving pre-determined course specs sounds like it would be best summed up by introducing a simulator within the driving simulator. The driver would enter the simulator and have a complex HUD (excellent for a 3D showcase) for rapid selection of car, adjustments, and environmental settings. The track, driver, and car feedback can be logged by the simulator and offer a multi-setting tool for cars to access using a simulator database upload.

just a thought
