GTMSA Presents

The Tour of GT4

Stage 9: Chamonix

Special Conditions: 4 Lap Race

Deadline 11.59pm GMT Sunday 10th October

picture.php

Grand Canyon proved to be a very tough round, and 4 laps of Chamonix could turn out to be just as treacherous! With a truly challenging mix of iced up tarmac and hard pack snow there is only one thing to say... Good Luck!!

Feel free to discuss sector times but please don't mention lap times or total race time.

General Information and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by TGT4 sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ABud) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round.

  • Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
  • No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
  • Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
  • No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
  • All decisions by GTMSA officials are final
  • Curbs/rumble strips count as track

If a driver doesn't manage to submit a time for a particular stage a penalty time will be assigned, calculated as follows:

110% of the slowest time.

Eg. If the slowest time is 19'25.346 the penalty time for all non submitting racers will be:

21'00.365

Also if a driver joins the series part way through their GC time for the races missed will be calculated in the same way

Out of all of the terrific races in this series, I think that this one was my favorite. In my opinion, when you get a handle on it, Chamonix is a magnificent course, with flowing corners that are all quite different despite the appearance of the track map. I spent a long time getting it right, and although I obviously left some time behind - especially in the paved section, on which I seemingly took a step backwards when I toned down my pace a bit to find consistency in the snow - I was able to get a completely clean race, which was very satisfying. I hope that you all come to enjoy it as much as I did, even if it doesn't seem promising at first. 👍

time submited.

this was a challange for me. i've never done very well here but tried not to push it to hard and well i don't think it's a great time but one of my better ones.

Time submitted,

Heavy motor racing schedule this weekend, (Bathurst 1000, MotoGP & F1) so i submitted my first run that was clean. I'm happy that its clean, but not sure about the time, i guess ill find out how good it was when everybody else's times get published.

Did not do very well to start with although I like this track and normally do okay.
Found that a 9 point race where I could not keep in front of opponent very humiliating.
Decided to change to manual transmission which paid immediate dividends.
Ended up doing a very good race, a few minor taps but no penalties activated and found a nice flow.
Probably still way too slow but who knows ?
Gave it my best shot in limited time available.

I've done three full races with only slight improvement between each one, so I think I will submit my time.

Decent fun even if I can't touch the Subaru Impreza WRX STI '02 that just motors away from me.:yuck:

I'm able to hold onto 2nd place for the entire race, so at least I'm not on the bottom step of the podium!;)

See you on the track,

What a coincidence! So was I. :dunce:

Without breaking Race rules. I can tell you that a few of my lap times were close to this and would go for about 7.31 cents an oz based on 2005 figures on some unnamed license test. :sly:

Time submitted.

Re-ran race and had some improvement, so a new time was submitted to ABud.

I tried a 2nd gear launch, and found that I can pass the Subaru going into the first right hander on the tarmac, since the Subaru Impreza brakes early. Sadly though, I can't hold the lead for the rest of the race.:(

So did I !
However I managed to stay in front and win Race for the measly 9 points.

Nice going viperin!

With a few more tries, I might have been able to stay in front of the Subaru Impreza that I was battling, but it would have been close. I don't mind losing to a Subaru since I'm on the same team and get a share of the winning purse!

I know what you mean about the 9 points! Its ridiculous how hard it is to win a 9 point race (unless your name is Austin). I hope that this gets fixed somewhat in GT5.

Respectfully,
GTsail

Here's my race. You might be able to tell that I spent a lot of time on it. :dopey:

Trust me, though, when I say that a real alien would have obliterated my time. I mean, just compare holl01's S14 to mine.
