Before I joined this forum I was pretty comfortable racing with all of the assist on. I hardly ever made mistakes with the assists on but was really holding myself back because of being afraid of the change. Basicily I had to leave my comfort zone and didn't have the patience to learn to race with all assists off.

Well that all changed when I joined this forum and found out I couldn't race in the league because I didn't know how to race in PRO MODE. So for the last two weeks I started from scratch and relearned the game from the ground up. The difference in the fun factor & lap times have been mind blowing! I only post this thread to help other people that might have been in my situation, and of course a big thanks to Mannymoenjack for posting a league race where you had to race in pro mode. I still think I'll be able to take even more time off in the future but just to give everybody a better idea the difference it has made I will post my times below, ...

.............. Pro Assists

Silverstone 1.38 1.41
SPA 2.09 2.12
Road America 1.53 1.56
Lagauna Seca 1.18 1.21
Brands Hatch 1.19 1.21

Looks really good R.W. 👍

I't seems like you can attack final round at Nordschleife in Time Trial World Tour Competition. So go! and get them tiger :sly:

You've seen Spiderman too many times, haven't you? :P

Congrats on the discovery R.W., now it's only going to be a little while longer until you're screaming profusely at the game ready to chuck your controller either a: straight into the television, or b: right out the 🤬 window screaming and pull all sorts of hair in the process.

I might be the only forum member not to know Nordschleife like the back of my hand, probable only raced it 10 times total. One of these weekends I'll dedicate myself too memorizing the track better :ouch:

And then you take a long break like I did and come back to it after a month or two with the realization that it's not a GT5 step-in replacement, but rather a great arcade racer with a sim aspect to it.

And if you're using a pad, dial back the deadzone and sensitivity to 1-5% and 5-10% respectively.

I'm glad I didn't toss the game out, and I'm sure not going to trade it in on GT5 like I originally planned!

I actually had one of those moments this morning. Me and some dude hooked up in a 6 lap dogfight on Road America. It was the kind of online race that only comes along every 50 or so races. To paint a better picture it was the classic powerful drifty Lambo vs. the knife cutting precision of the Pagani race, As the race started I took hole shot in the Lambo and held on for dear life through 6 mistake free laps with the Pagani nipping at my heels never over an inch or two away. But unfortunately this one didn't have the classic Disneyland feel good ending and I basically choked on the LAST corner when I took it too hot and went into the gravel momentarily, that was all the Zonda needed and beat me by a car length 🤬 As the checkered flag came out I screamed and cursed loud enough to send the dogs running from the room and a startled wife proclaiming I lost my mind :grumpy:

I have to agree with you R.W., if it wasn't for the league I would still be using some of the assists aswell. Pro settings had me about to cry a few times but is is a very good feeling when you feather the throttle just and and make if around the track in record time.

I know the "last corner 🤬-up" very well. You could say it's my specialty!

Well maybe you could teach me! I seem to forget how to do it some days!
