This is the thread where we discuss the draft. Someone's going to make Detroit a happy bunch (or at least even more a train wreck) of NFL fans. Here are two notables that will enter the new draft:

* Mark Sanchez (USCal)
* Percy Harvin (Florida)

What does your team need? And can these college football players fill the positions for which the drafted teams will play for in the NFL? Let's hear it, players! What players will do the most good in the NFL?

No Super Bowl, and already talking about the draft? It's the theory of universal creep! :dopey:

It would be great to discuss drafts from 3-5 years ago. It's an eye opening process.

Well, I decided to do it early because this is about the college players who declare this year even before the Super Bowl kicks off. Some teams, like my Texans, have long been done as far as playoff chances go. Some teams are already looking to next season after losing in the playoffs. Even while some teams may not be in the playoffs anymore or at all, there's still plenty of time to talk about good draft picks.

My team needs Vernon Carey to lose 30 pounds. I'm thinking draft Jillian Michaels.

No, seriously... we need to draft an epic DT or OLB because our D-line and Joey Porter getting old. We had like zero pass rush against the Ravens. It was pathetic. Philip Merling + another DT = the future. Matt Roth is good at OLB, but he's not a superstar. Perhaps he can develop even more, but that still leaves Joey Porter who can't stay around forever.

Just messin' with you a little, man. 👍 I lived in Houston in '02-'03, and went to 4 Texans games. Great stadium, I have a ton of respect for Dom Capers, and I've always viewed them as a team on the verge. At this point, if the O-Line can just Gel, you'll have a solid chance at the division. Maybe that's where the draft comes into play?

But I still think discussions of prior year drafts would be interesting..........

I beleive this year's draft will be in two weeks. So now is the time to think about what teams will acquire what players to get better. My Texans are getting a bit better on offense and defense. Maybe we could get someone to better help in the running game or a player that can make better pass defense. I'd love for my Texans to have a more proper winning season after back-to-back 8-8 seasons. Now sometime next week, I'll learn of my Texans' playing schedule.

Time to envision what teams will pick up what players.

Now I'm thinking we're gonna go after that CB from Ohio State. Andre Goodman was the truth. Now he's gone.

I really have no idea what the Dolphins management will do.

My Texans say that they have no immediate needs as far as finding some players to fill certain positions. After two 8-8 finishes (it could have been 9-7 had we won at Oakland, and maybe 10-6 if we didn't GIVE Indianapolis the win after that terrible meltdown we had at home against Indy).

Matt Stafford (QB, Georgia) looks to be the best fit for Detroit. Hope your team gets the best available players!

Get excited, Detroit! You got Mr. Matthew Stafford. I'll still be watching to see who my Texans will draft this weekend. I was excited for the Steve Slaton pick last NFL Draft. I now wonder who'll try and improve my team. Either way, Houston needs to hold on to the football longer and stop the turnovers.

My Texans got Brian Cushing (OLB?) from USCal in the first round. I'm surprised that last season, the Texans were ranked 3rd in Offense. I wasn't really surprised at the low rank in defense.

Hope your teams did well...

We had the weirdest draft. But it looks like our CB positions will be set. :D Can't wait to see the Wildcat with Pat White. I wonder what's going to happen to Beck and Henne.

Mel Kiper Jr. rated the Oakland Raiders as having the worst draft picks. But I'm finally glad that someone's actually paying attention to my Texans without talking about them like they're going to finish 0-16. The key quote I heard was how my Texans are a team "ready to burst." We're vastly improving.

Mini-camp should begin this week for just about all teams.
