If there wasn't a bad taste in Chirac's mouth before, there will be now... :yuck:
Definitely! I read somewhere that Finland had like two of the last votes for the Olympics. Chirac had to throw in the their name, while insulting the British. :D He probably single handedly cost Paris the Olympics.

Yay! Hopefully I get to watch some games in the Millenium Stadium.

But I might be in the RAF by then

My Spanish Teacher phoned his mate who had just bought a house in Hackney, his mate is over the moon!

Yes I also read that we might have had the last votes and the british challenged us to vote against Paris because of Chirac's sayings :D I still can't believe he said those things just before the decision

edit: I just read that London won the voting 54-50 and propably at least one of the 2 finns voted for London.

cool. My cousin gets to go to London! (and most likely beijing!)

I was honestly thinking that the games would be held in Paris in the end, but no it's here! :)

I must admit the French wern't happy, booing at anything to do with us.

Up yours Chirac.

You do realise that the traffic is going to be monstrous. I lived in Walthamstow East London for 16 years. Stratford isn't too far away. There are going to have to be some major improvements to shift that many people around.

Thank god I can actually watch the Olympics now. I was concerned if it was in Paris because I don't think I could put up with them.

No just go an heckel them as they past, that way you won't be charged with assult :D.

It's 2012 tho'. We'll all be dead by then.... Or driving round in Reeboks (Nike won't have cornered the market for another 10 years)

I think Hackney is to get a tube line, and hopefully the over-ground will be upgraded too... but remember that the London Underground shifts some 3 million people every day already , so I don't think that the Olympics will prove to be too much of a challenge, especially once they've built a couple of those new roads... more concrete in Stratford? Woopee! That'll be like building sandpits in the Sahara!
