Which club, you're probably asking? Why, the five digit club, of course. Statistically, I was en route to be hitting this milestone right around the same time as my 10 year mark here at GTPlanet, but thanks to Operation Planet Combination, it's arrived about 3 months early. Needless to say, the celebratory drinks haven't been shipped yet. :ouch:

GTPlanet's been my internet home for a good while now; at least since the GT4 days. I wandered elsewhere from time to time, but Jordan's tireless dedication to providing not just the best GT-based website out there, but a (relatively :P) mature, thoughtful community that can thrive on things other than games is why I keep coming back. I don't need to tell you that there are some incredibly intelligent people around here, and despite all the jokes we may toss around about having to wade into the madness that is the GT5 pool, rarely does a day go by that I don't feel like I've learned something new from someone here. So uh, thanks for that, folks.

I was just as surprised as others when the offer for SM status came through, and speaking of the GT5 section; talk about a trial by fire! I've got to thank Jordan and the rest of the staff-folk for helping this newbie get to grips with the tools and the lay of the land in a period where the site witnessed exponential growth. If/when I ever meet any of you in person, as unlikely as it is (barring Hydro, who's here in TO with me somewhere), I owe you a few pints .

Speaking of; GT has, quite literally, shaped my life. I've met real life friends thanks to this game; our first Ontario GTP(arty) was nearly twelve years ago! More recently, I found out that HondaKid86, famous for his in-depth FAQ's during the golden years, is just as polite, sincere, and breathlessly enthusiastic for all things automotive in person as he is online. I met a fair amount of GTP members at an old event by the name of CampusCup; an event that actually ended up paying for a year's university for me. GT sparked an interest in cars that I don't think will ever diminish, and GTPlanet is the place I can come and discuss myriad topics with like-minded individuals.

I've made some friends here, and some enemies too - you don't know that for sure until the duplicate PSN accounts start flooding your inbox and threatening to "ruin ur name" - but I'm not going to start naming names from either camp here. Let me just thank everyone, for all helping contribute to keeping this site on the top.

In light of recent announcements, ones that are sure to further expand the community, I'd like to offer a Lifetime Premium membership to one lucky individual. For those who were around at the other 'Planet, you may remember my scavenger hunts for monthly DLC codes. Well, the scavenger hunt is back! There are a fair amount of steps, but don't worry, you'll know you're on the right path, since the hint that will lead you to the next location will always be in the Edit Reason section (the little green text at the bottom of posts). Existing Premium members can take part too, and as suggested by T-12, the prize is different for them; a copy of GTPedia. If you think you have the answer and want to collect, make sure you PM me with a title of "Scavenger Hunt Answer" and the associated secret word(s) in the message body. I'll only be accepting one guess from each member, so make absolutely sure you've got it before sending that PM!

Your first hint is below. I ask that you work alone on this hunt, so no discussions of progress in here.

Stay classy, GTPlanet, and here's to another 9 years, 8 months, and 10 days

Two hundred eighty one multiplied by thirteen.

May I be the first to offer my congratulations.

I'm not sure I can do the scavenger hunt as much as I'd like to as my computering skills are less than apt to do what the clue suggests. ;)

Congratulations on this excellent milestone.
10,000 posts is a truly epic point to reach.

This 'scavenger hunt' is a brilliant idea, I'll definitely be having a go at that. :P
Here's to 10,000 more!

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm pretty sure I've got this. ;)

Congrats on the milestone! I literally just saw your at 9,997 earlier and I was just thinking, "he better not miss it... No, he's going to miss it isn't he... No, he won't... Or will he?" Good to see you didn't miss it. 👍

Needless to say, the celebratory drinks haven't been shipped yet. :ouch:
So you're saying you don't have a giant booze back-up in case things go wrong? :P

Congrats on the milestone, Mr SlipZ :)👍

Congratulations, SlipZtrEm! Thanks for being an awesome member of the community and for doing all of that work in the photomode forum!

Thanks everyone!

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm pretty sure I've got this. ;)

Nope, you were only about a third of the way through the trail...

I'll remind all those who are on the hunt that the green text is a hint to the next location. Only the last one isn't, but you'll know when you get there ;)

So you're saying you don't have a giant booze back-up in case things go wrong? :P

Congrats on the milestone, Mr SlipZ :)👍

Thanks Daniel - you know, I did get to hold an absolutely giant bottle of Moet on Wednesday, I probably should've taken it!

SlipZ I blame you for my lack of productivity this evening! Searching for the third clue is time consuming!

Congrats on the milestone though

Thanks Sprite, Kitten, Cano, and Solo!

It appears we have a winner: Apok just PM'd me the correct phrase. Pending his answer as to what he will be receiving, I'll perhaps post the steps involved in here. Maybe I'll have another one later in the summer, too... :sly:

Congrats Apok!

I'm just curious as to what clue #4 meant. I got the first 3 relatively quickly, but that one was so confusing. It truly stumped me.

Well that was all too quick. :scared:

Congrats, Apok. And congrats to you for the 10k, Slip. Now catch up. :P

Alright, for those curious souls; here's how it was done. The answer to each hint is the link itself:

We must go back. Back to the beginning. - My first post.
Be a tourist in a gallery, get a trophy. - My tiny, neglected Tourist Trophy gallery.
My first post, in the fifth's section. - My first post in the GT5 section.
eno ruof orez xis eno owt owt - Do note the thread number in your browser's address bar.
An arguably rude man once said: "I'm sorry, but that comes off a bit Sony fanboy-ish to me." - One of the Egg's first posts, surely a harbinger of things to come ;).
The other Planet's first Support thread. OMG FIRST! - This one might've proved difficult to hunt down.
OMG! The PMC celebrates the century mark. - The Photomode Comp hit 100 weeks last year.
Thread Number: (84^2 x 10) + 10^4 + 60^2 + 26^2 - 6 - Just some math.
Everyone remembers their first time at the (Rumble) Strip. Or their second. *Especially* their 97th! - TB's 10K thread was where my 97th post in the RS is.
Combine the top five posters, then add 8301. - Combine their user numbers, add 8301, and now look at the thread number...
Almost there. Check the SS menu, find the smorgasboard. - Highlight the entire post to reveal the secret message. And no, it's just me wishing ;)

Well that was all too quick. :scared:

Wasn't it? I guess the one for my 10 year mark will have to be harder. :mischievous:

Congrats, Apok. And congrats to you for the 10k, Slip. Now catch up. :P

Hey now, what I found so interesting was that my post in TB's celebratory thread was only my 97th post in the Rumble Strip, period. I'm pretty sure I was only around 3000-some-odd posts back then, so in 2.5 years, I've become quite the postwhore.

I was stuck on Clue #10 and instead of adding the Members IDs, I was adding their post count from the time you edited that post, and that landed me in the GT5 Market Place with someone wanting a Corvette :P

That was pretty good fun trying to work out those clues.
Thanks for posting up the answers - now I can sleep at night. :P

As a final post, I'll go back to the OP:

Congratulations on 10,000! And what an epic way of celebrating it.

:P

Thanks Slipz for this opportunity and again congratulations on 10,000 posts.

I'll take the credit blame for your postwhoreyness. :P

Congrats, SlipZpok!

Congratulations Slip. Your huge contribution to GTP's photography sections are greatly appreciated. With out you, this place wouldn't be the same. 👍

Nicely done BTW Apok. :)

Hah! That was fast. Congrats on 10,000 Slipz - GTP is an amazing site, but by no means would it be the same without you. Fantastic job on the photomode portion of the site where I usually frequent. You are truly an asset to the community. 👍
