Its brilliant to hear that we'll be getting 1000 cars to play with but what of the 830 cars that will be "standard models".

GT5 will not disappoint so I'm 100% sure these cars will look amazing but in comparison to the 170 fully modeled cars what will be different.

  • Can we expect something along the lines of GTHD?
  • Will we have interiors?
  • Can we expect updates on the cars after the release?

Has anyone seen or got images of a comparison of GT5P and GTHD?

Does anyone know what to expect from the "standard models"?

Well the answer is: we just don't know.

PD just won't release us any info whatsoever so anything about that is pure speculation. Wait for TGS and you'll probably have your answer.

Theyre supposed to be the cars from GT4 in GT5 graphics and physics..

I assume they will all have interior modelling because it would be absurd if they didnt... just maybe not damage and interior modelling under the bonnet and trunk etc...

This has to be true because that would be very strange.👍

yeah, it would be strange, but GT PSP even has interior modeling for cars. So GT5 has to have interior modeling for all cars!!

Where does this tie into the number of cars in GTPSP?

From my understanding, almost all the cars from GTPSP will be in GT5. Now since some of these are 'race cars' this means of the 800 or so in GTPSP, say 100 will have full damage.

So, if my maths is correct :

800 or so cars in GTPSP = 700 normal models, 100 premium 'damage' models.

This leaves about 200 cars not counted for, approx 150 will be normal models that arent in GTPSP, and 50 Premium models that are exclusive to GT5.

The 50 models number has to includes WRC and NASCAR? What about F1?

Note : I'm being very vague with exact numbers because internet connection im using takes too long to find all the exact figures.

You see, I dont think we're going to get ALL the cars from GT4. Why? Well, we've had alot good releases of production cars since GT4, to name a few:

Ford Focus RS'09
Renault Megane R26.R'07 - Plus all the other hot Meganes and new Renault-sport Clio's.
Audi R8 V10 FSI'09
Pagani Zonda F'08
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400'09
Vauxhall VXR8'05

Loads of performance cars, even models which should have been in GT4, like the Astra VXR, Clio 197 etc.

I expecting a trim on all the Skylines, RX-7's, Evolution's etc.

I dont think GT5 will miss out on the latest metal, in fact we'll probably see some of the newest models like the 458 Italia. Remember, we've already seen the Nissan GTR V-Spec and ZR-1, which are 2009 MY cars. But...

I will be angry if we don't get basic updates for performance models, like a 722 version of the SLR... No excuses for a simple update!

Worst case would be that those cars won't have interiors and they are just copied cars from gt4. PD was earlier planning to do this and game would have been called GT HD classic. New models would have been called GT HD Premium.

The cars in the GTHD demo were just as good, if not better than, the cars in GT5P. The Eiger track looked a bit better and was more crisp, although it was still a bit different than the Prologue version (dandelions, barriers at one corner, etc.). It was not an upscaled version of GT4 at all, graphically. GTHD Classic was pretty much GT4 in HD though, but that was never released.

I don't think anyone can truely say what will/will not be in the game. Look at GT PSP, originally Kaz said that there would be no cockpit view, however they have put a cockpit view in the game on every car.

Yep, the same static sillhouette...

I think if forza can pull off 400+ cars with full interior view/modeling, GT5 should be able to as well, Especially since they have been in the business 10 years longer. Also If you have interior you do it on all the cars not half ass it and just do it on 200 cars, Same goes for damage either have it fully incorporated or dont have it at all, But thats just my opinion.

If GT5 doesn't have full cockpits for all cars I'm going to be hugely disapointed.

You aren't the only one. After a year and a half of playing Prologue, a person gets used to cockpits. Going back to bumper cam would feel unnatural.

I wont care so much about cockpit view if they won't put 1:1 steering animation option for wheel users.

Maybe you should try adjusting your seat height so the animated steering wheel would be out of sight.

GT4 had it in the convertible cars even with no cockpit views. You can see the driver's hands overlapping each other turning the wheel. Wasn't there an early version of GT:HD or Prologue where the steering was full lock to lock but the hand animation was very awkward? I remember seeing it but after Prologue came out, they didn't go with it. Probably because they couldn't get the animation of the hand shuffling down correctly.

Edit: Nevermind. Guy above me posted the video of what I was talking about.

about the onboard view, i think the full 1000car will have her inside view, because a lot of car from GT4 was in GT5P, with onboard view! (Z4, NSX, DB9, Impreza, Clio V6, Viper gts and more...).

i don't think so PD leave his game without this detail...

They did originally have 1:1 hand movement in GT5P.

That, admittedly very small piece, looks awful. No wonder they dropped it. It's one of those things, which you can only include if you get it right, looks quite pathetic if it's wrong.

Interesting, I didn't realise it was in an early GT5P build. Based on that, I'd say it's very possible you'll see it in GT5. It's quite an impressive part of the visualisation of the game and would be a big plus, they've attempted it, so I presume they'd have spent time on tweaking it to get it right.

Thanks for that. :)

Perhaps a bit off-topic, but Forza 3 has 1:1 wheel motions as well. In one of the videos you can see somebody using a Fanatec wheel and the in game driver follows his exact movements.
