The point of this thread is to expand our musical horizons. I know that everyone knows of a band that rules, but aren't very famous.
What I want everyone to do, is tell us about a lesser-known band or maybe just one of their albums. If you really like them, explain why, and what music type they appeal to. I can't wait to hear some new bands when you guys start giving suggestions.
I will start with 2.
Medeski, martin and Wood:
Acid jazz trio, very funky and free. Some of the most creatively arranged songs, that do not stray from what sounds good. I can honestly say this about MMW; I have never met anyone who doesn't like them, after hearing them, AND I have NEVER heard a song of theirs I don't like. This is very hard to believe. They cam out in 1992 and have released about 8 or 9 albums. The most recent is 2003.
T-Rex:
I know it is hard to take them serious because of their slapstick name, but T-Rex deserve to be huge. The only real work I have listened to is their 1971 album (Electric Warrior). They are a bridge between the blues-rock of Led Zeppelin, and the pulsing groove of the 70's. I really think you will like their infectious back beats and guitar riffs. The lead guitarist is a cult hero, and he is very innovative with his technique.
Ok, so please give your suggestions.
