Hey everyone, what's your favourite show to watch where they build custom cars or bikes? In Canada, between TLC, SpikeTV and The Discovery Channel we have a lot of options.

I used to love Monster Garage, but I got sick of Jesse James' cool-dude attitude, and the guy's way better at building bikes anyway.

So now I watch American Chopper religiously (it's Discovery's #1 show in Canada) and I just recently found this show called Overhaulin' which is really good. Chip Foose's designs are gorgeous! Anyone seen any of these shows ever?

I also watch Pimp My Ride on MuchMusic with Xibit (sp?), but I try to keep that a secret for the most part!

Overhaulin is def. the best car building show, there are other wanna be's like "Pimp my Ride " they use West Coast Customs, and do alright, but Chip Foose is a genuis, I wish I has 1/4 of his talent ! Man, there was one 67 mustang fast back, he did such amazing work on that thing.....

Yeah I saw that Mustang episode, it was by far the best one...I hate it though when the person that's being Overhauled doesn't look like anything but ecstatic, because if someone took my Old Cadillac Fleetwood and made it beautiful, I'd get down on my knees, if you know what I mean.

What I hate about Pimp My Ride is that it's only a half hour long so they don't show enough of the build process...also they do pretty much the same thing with every car. Sure rims, new paint, and a PS2 is cool, but it gets boring after a while. They never really modify the body anyway. But Xibit is pretty funny, and the people whose rides he pimps are always happy.

Same feeling about Pimp Ma'Ride.....like you said, its fluff, no real imagination or creativity..... no drama when it comes to building the car...its a glorified installers show....

Tuner Transformation; best show in my opinion, they don't overdue the cars, sadly the do put alot of graphics. 👎

I saw a show the other day about amature drifters in Florida, these two dudes changed 1993 civic's to rwd.....man, must be nice to have the money to trow away like that !

Eh... wow, I think burnout 3 is already infecting me... I thought sUn's avatar pic was of a car in the process of crashing. :dopey:👍

Anyway, yeah, I'd say overhauling only because of Chip Foose and his abilities, screw this fixing up my car crap part of the show.

I've only ever seen one car makeover show, which was Pimp my ride. It was ok but being in the Sports cafe Picadilli, I couldn't hear a thing due to the loud music. But they did a nice couple of jobs and the people seemed pleased at the end.

I recorded the best 2 "Rides" shows ever....
1. The one where they built the Eleanor Clone 67 Fastback Mustang.
2. The Fastforward Fastback 67 Mustang.
These were just excellent shows and they introduced the Supercharged Super Snake 67 Mustang!! WOW Just sick!!

Oh MAN! That Rides with Eleanor was so damn good! I'm sure every man who watched it was ready to trade their momma's head for one of their own. But I absolutely CANNOT stand Jason Priestly. He looks like he's just come off a three week cocaine bender and his narration style is just plain awful. He ruins the show for me.

I always watch Scrapheap Challange; not really a car building show, more a machine building show (things like bouncing bomb machines, as well as sand racers, fire trucks, etc. etc.). Panic Mechanics was good, when it was on; 2 teams given a car to turn into something else, like a Daimler (sp) hearse into a beach buggy sand racer, or a collapseable Beetle.

First off Jesse James has a **** it attitude since he pretty much hates cameras and all he wants to do is work.

Now on to the shows.

- Monster Garage is entertaining, I like some of the things they do on there. But some of the stuff is pretty stupid.

- American Choppers is awful, its 10 minutes of bike building and 50 minutes of yelling. It annoys me and there bikes aren't even that good.

- Pimp my ride is awful as well, a bunch of stupid mods on crappy cars.

- Overhaulin is a ok show, I like what they do to the cars, Chip Foose is my hero!!!

- Rides is a sweet show, one of my favorite to watch. I love how they cover many things that I have no clue on even.

- Tuner Transformation is a bunch of stupid Canadians ricing out cars and yelling about graphics.

- TRUCKS! would be cool if they didn't put a Skyjacker lift on every thing

I really enjoyed watching Monster Garage and Rides, as these are the only two shows I watch without fail every week.

I've only seen on episode of Pimp My Ride, IMO it doesn't really offer a good insight into how they transform the car, nothing interesting really.

And finally I love Junkyard Wars too! Nothing to do with cars but they do build some great machines. 👍

Hehe, thats bascially how I'd put it. Although OCC's bikes aren't that bad...Have you seen their I Robot bike, damn talk about unique. Tner transformation is a good show based in Toronto, the only thing wrong with that show is that they keep varying from rice, to nice mostly every episode. Like when they made that S13 coupé into a drift machine, that was nice, and when they did that cavalier, that was total rice. What the best show in my opinion right now is either overhauling or rides, they always make a beautiful car 'cause of chip foose of course 'cause he's the bomb:sly:👍.

My list goes in this order.

1. Overhaulin'
2. Trucks
3. Horse Power TV
4. Rides

All in my opinion are good shows. Some are a bit more informative than others, but all are enjoyable.
James-

Hey Blazin!

I was all set to flame you for saying something like "stupid Canadians" until I realized what show you were talking about. Tuner Transformation is pure crap, but if I'm not mistaken it's on public access up here, so that would explain the low-budget crappiness of the show. I will, however, ask you to think if there might be other reasons as to why the show sucks other than the fact that it's Canadian. I could say the same thing about "Trucks!" or anything on Horsepower TV.

I love American Chopper. The yelling does get a little repetetive and annoying, but I watch it for the bikes. And there is a lot more than 10% bike building on the show!! They have built some really awesome bikes, including the Commanche Bike, the Jet Bike, and the Fire Bike (a tribute to FDNY which they unveiled at a tribute ceremony and dedicated it to the New York Fire Dept. which had many members present at the ceremony). I also liked when Paul Sr. dressed up as Santa Claus and they built the Christmas Bike and went to a local school where underpriveledged kids attend and gave them presents. Some of this stuff might have been arranged by the network/show producers, but it doesn't matter.

Monster Garage has been on for 3 or 4 years here, and I used to watch it religiously. But I hate the end segment with "Schwag" and that other idiotic announcer where Jesse goes up against a genuine vehicle with his Monster creation...so unbelievably stupid! And if Jesse has such an attitude because he wants to work, WHY THE HELL DOES HE HAVE THE SHOW?! He's always on telling people to stop performing for the camera and get to work and he himself is always saying people are fooling around. Hello? It's a TV SHOW, it's supposed to be ENTERTAINING!

Plus, they show that stupid Cadillac Hearse Monster episode all the time, where it doesn't work so "cool dude Jesse James" sends it to the crusher and it explodes behind him...in fact, they use that as the clip on the commercial for the show.

I HATE JESSE JAMES. HE IS A DISGUSTING, OBNOXIOUS JERK. IF HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE ON TV, THEN GET THE HELL OUT OF MY FACE. And take off that stupid winter hat, it's too hot!
