I'm not one to take many pictures as I focus on pure writing, but I will take pics of the cars to give an idea of what I'm driving.
The Birth of Mech Motorsports
"And Powerhouse Amuse finishes 1-2-3 at the Tsukuba 1000!" The announcer said in Japanese. 18-year old Nick Dawson didn't speak Japanese, only understanding because of the subtitles on the 62-inch tv screen. Amuse does it again, He thought to himself, wondering where their dominance comes from. Their S2000s haven't lost this race since they entered the Tuned Car Championship. He wondered if the cars he tuned could do something about their dominance. He had personally tuned his Lotus Elise, which he had nicknamed "Killer Bee" and his girlfriend's Mazda RX-7, which she nicknamed "Anaconda". He wondered if his girlfriend had the same thoughts as he did. So he sent her a text.
Did you see the race? They both preferred to text with proper grammar.
Which one? She replied
Tsukuba 1000.
Yeah, Amuse is dominating the Tuned Car Championship aren't they?
Yeah, but I was thinking
Thinking what? She wondered, trying to figure out where he was going with this.
Do you think that the Anaconda and the Killer Bee would have a chance against them? Or even have a chance in the Tuned Car Championship?
Let's talk about this over dinner.
You just love the fact that I'm rich and can afford to take you out to dinner anytime, don't you?
Yep, and I also love the fact that my boyfriend is black with liberty spikes. Now are we going?
Be there in 5.
He grabbed his wallet, iPod, and the keys to Killer Bee and left to his girlfriend's dorm.
Kiara could hear the rumble of Killer Bee from anywhere, as he personally made the muffler on the car. Originally made for the Formula SAE team for Georgia Tech (which they are volunteering in, both as drivers, Kiara a the Chief Engineer of Suspension and Nick as Chief Engineer of the Exhaust System), he modified it to fit on Killer Bee and Anaconda. The muffler added an extra 15 horsepower to each car. Along with Kiara's suspension skills, these cars never feel a bump. That's saying a lot for Killer Bee, because it's a Lotus with a weight reduction, it only weighs 1,673 pounds (759 kilograms), bumps don't usually go unnoticed. These upgrades, along with various others brought Anaconda to 575 hp at 7400 rpm, and the car weighing in at 1102 kilos. Killer Bee with its various upgrades came out to 319 hp at 8800rpm. Looks didn't go unnoticed wither with the Anaconda having a 3dCarbon Aluminum Wing, a carbon-fiber hood and a Bay Speed Invader Body Kit. She swapped her original RX-7 rims for Volk TE37s and swapped the tires out for Bridgestones. The Killer Bee was upgraded with a Megan Racing Carbon-Fiber Wing, a carbon-fiber painted hood, and 3dCarbon Fender Dive Planes (He planned on keeping this car as light as possible). The finishing touches on his car were the BBS RS-GTs colored yellow (his car was black hence the name) on a set of Good Years.
She lost track of time as she heard a silent knock on her door. She jumped out of her thoughts as she went to go answer the door. She found Nick, leaning on the door, arms crossed.
"We could've been goon 20 minutes ago, you didn't hear the car? Or your phone?" He asked.
"Sorry, I was thinking about if are cars are actually good enough to enter the tuned car series. I mean we don't even have a team name yet." She worried about how disorganized they were.
"We'll discuss it all over dinner." He reassured her. He led her to the parked car Lotus, started the car and retracted the roof. "So, what are you hungry for?"
"Italian. I'm feeling like some ravioli."
"So Veni Vidi Vici?"
"Yes. Wait, isn't that place a little expensive?"
"Did you just forget that both my parents make a 6-figure salary?"
"Right." She said, mouth watering at the sound of even tasting their food. She had been there once before and the meal for herself took about $35 out of her. That's another perk of dating the guy she is now, he can take her to the things she can't exactly afford. They made it to the restaurant, walked inside and placed their orders.
"So, what made you think of entering the Tuned Car Championship?" Kiara started, remembering that this was the entire reason they decided to go to dinner.
"I think we might be able to beat the **** out Amuse." He said, confident about their cars and driving skills.
"Why?"
"Come on, think about it, we designed our own suspension and muffler. Our cars have dropped some weight, and gained some power. We're first in the Formula SAE because of our designs. And we're first in the NCAA racing league. We have a chance!" He said as their food was placed on the table.
"I don't know," She said, starting her food.
He took a bite of his chicken alfredo, "What do we have to lose? Trial and error baby."
"Alright let's do it." She said, a lot less doubtful than she was 3 minutes ago. "But what are we going to call ourselves, and who are we going to have race with us in the endurance races?"
The drivers are taken care of, I know six people who raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTC class, and finished 3rd and 5th respectively at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring."
"What are their names?"
"Mike Yamada, Eric Molina, Frank Gould, Rebecca McDowell, Sandra Harter and Bonnie Campbell."
"I got a team name!"
"I'm listening." He said eager to hear what she had.
"How about Mech Motorsports." She said proud of what she came up with.
"I like it, but where did you come up with it?"
"We are both very mechanical people"
"I see where your going with this. Okay, starting this February, we are flying to Japan as Mech Motorsports" He said as he paid the bill and dropped her off to her house.
