The Car Show vs. Top Gear U.S.

After watching The Car Show last night on SPEED, I was pleasantly surprised. While it's not Top Gear UK good, it's a hell of a lot better than the Top Gear U.S. While it's similar to Top Gear, they are creative enough to not copy it. Plus I've always been a fan of Adam Corolla. If anyone hasn't seen it, it's worth watching. It makes me wonder if Top Gear U.S. will step up their game this season. If not I doubt there will be a season three, especially with a new option to attract viewers.

I was gonna watch The Car Show but I watched Rides instead I might watch it next week and Top Gear US is coming back I saw a promo for it on the GTP website its supposed to be on July 24

I've only seen commercials, but looks good. Might catch it some time.

I always thought Corolla should've been one of the presenters for Top Gear US. I find him more likeable and funnier than Adam Ferrara. And he could easily fit the bill of the American-equivalent to Jeremy Clarkson moreso.

I must say I really liked The Car Show, it seems their chemistry is almost as good as the TG UK guys(Doesn't seem as forced as TG US does at times).

I also liked the LeMons segment, it was funny and also increased exposure for the series.👍

I guess I'll be the minority on this one.

I thought it was terrible.

I don't like US TG either, but to me it's a lot better than Car Show.

Corolla was originally supposed to be one of the TG presenters at an earlier attempt to make TG on another network, but that show never came to be. I always wondered why he wasn't chosen for the series that actually aired.

As far as Ferrara goes, it's surprising how forced everything he says seems since he is a Hollywood actor. I do think it is something they will work on for the new season. I also hope they will work on some original bits as oppose to TG UK remakes with a twist.

You, Ryan, are on something. :P

I liked it a lot. Lots of laughs and general comedic value...I even liked the game show segment. Like I said in the Announcements thread, it's looking to be an indirect alternative to TG.

I couldn't watch more than 30 minutes. The game show piece was particularly bad. The format doesn't fit the content and the presenters don't fit the format. I, too prefer TGUS, though am not smitten.

I just finished watching The Car Show. Please tell me Salley is only a guest host and not a regular host.

And… even though I couldn’t get past episode 5, I have a ticket to be in the studio audience for TG US, which I’m attending this coming Sunday. Couple friends of mine got the tickets, so might as well!

What the hell is Carolla's problem? He cuts people off when they're talking, non-stop.

It's 🤬 annoying.

I see why so many people dislike him. And the show today was cheesy, only bright sides were the 458 and ACR.

I'm glad Carolla isn't on TG US.

I DVRed the first two episodes of The Car Show and it has potential, but I keep being frustrated by it. They try to fit too much into an hour. Do two segments, try a power test like they do on Top Gear UK and then fill the rest of the show with an adventure segment. Don't bother with awkward interviews and that stupid 0-60 segment.

As far as Top Gear USA vs. Car Show, they're both awkward and still feeling themselves out (frustratingly so with Top Gear USA, at least that is based on last season). I think I prefer the three-host setup on Top Gear USA, but Adam Corolla is my favorite of the two show's hosts.

I'll DVR the series (Car Show), but I'm thinking I'll bail on a lot of the shows. Wouldn't mind if they cut it back to Farah and Carolla. Salley is funny but other than name recognition I'm not sure what he adds. The grey-haired man might be a better writer for the show than a presenter.

That one guy that drove the 458 last night is sooooo much like James May.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were related.

It does have some potential, but SPEED tries to fit in way too many commercials.
Watching it live was 🤬 annoying because of the commercial breaks every five minutes.

The show has potential, I only saw a couple minutes of it, so I'm not totally sure yet.
Might have to Netflix it, do they have instant streaming for it yet?

I didn't think the second show was anywhere as good as the first. I liked the Rolls Royce review last week, but the Ferrari review this week was terrible. I agree that there is too much being crammed into the show, the segments seem way too short. I think the show will improve over time as they figure out what works and what doesn't.

I'm excited to see how the second season of TG US stacks up this Sunday, I'm hoping they learned a lot from season 1 and will show more of thier potential.

I legitimately cannot stand Adam now. He's just too damn annoying.

I can't see this show lasting at all with him in it; you can see from almost every outside interview he conducts that almost every person is offended either by his very presence or by whatever it is he's saying.

I'm not a big fan of either show since they both seem so forced. As for The Car Show... couldn't they have at least found some people who actually like cars?

After a few episodes of the Car Show, I'm not yet convinced.

British Top Gear will always be better. But I'm up for the second season of U.S. Top Gear if they can bring the chemistry and laughs.

Nope. Try hulu. But hulu won't work on iPods, Gogatrs. :sly:

I don't have Speed unfortunately but I saw the U.S. Top Gear which was terrible compared to the original U.K. version by miles.

Adam carolla is just an asshole who offends everyone on the show.
#1 Top Gear UK
#2 Top Gear US
#3 The Car Show

The Car Show show is just as good as The Man Show.I like it so much better than Top Gear US.I don't even watch Top Gear US anymore because of how boring it is.Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara and Rutledge Wood try too hard and it shows. At least on the UK version they are actually funny and what they do is interesting.

If i'm going to watch Top Gear i'm watching the UK version.

Never seen the U.S. TG, I rarely watch TV... but I did watch The Car show. and I liked it. 👍 They drove the original Batmobile!

I was just watching The Car Show, and while I would prefer a full hour, I think it is a very good show and is truly America's answer to Top Gear. It's entertaining and original, and doesn't seem scripted or stupid like TG USA.
