When do you think that we will run out of Oil and the car as we no it today will be gone and a new generation of cars will come along. i belive Fuel Cells will replace the conbustion engine but they are silent could you imagine driving a car with no noise.:(

:( Acar with no noise is a bad thing:( to me the sound sound of a healthy small block through headers and flowmasters is all i need ,i even took the radio out of my 63 just so i can hear it rumble:D

I don't think we'll actually 'run out' of oil.

Fuel cells will become more and more efficient until it's more efficient than the internal combustion engine using gasoline.

However, I still think track cars would run on gas... A car just isn't a car without a rumble.

This is all crap - don't listen to any of it. Go to the nearest Ford dealer and buy an Excursion with the normal 8-cylinder engine; they get a robust 12.5 MPG in mixed driving.

Well, 20 years is only a predicition. There is ALOT of oil under the ocean floor, but with our current technology, we cant reach it. So, lets just hope we can advance fast enough to get it. We should be able too. Look at how fast we advanced from 1900 - 2000. Went from Horse and Buggy to The Space Shuttle. From the Wright Bro's plane, to the SR71 Blackbird, capeable of 3 times the speed of sound (2000+ MPH). Big Leap for only 100 years...

It's turkey gizzards. Nice.

M5Power - 12.5mpg is robust? I'd hate to see "awful"... My Fiesta (on the way out as of Saturday) covers 50mpg at a steady cruising speed of 75mph - there's no real need to go faster, and in a country where petrol is $6 a gallon...

FPT - Mach 3.75 please. And the SR71A Blackbird has never been shot down, because no missile could catch it...! Space Shuttle's re-entry velocity is amazing - Mach 24...

Well if we run out of oil the there's always the option of running piston-engines on alcohol, methanol, hydrogen or some other fuel that is good to the environment. So, mabye it'll be more exlusive but I doubt that combustion engines will be gone just because there's no oil left.

Very - and bring it out on the highway, and it makes a robuster 15MPG. :D

All this anti-SUV stuff is crap anyway; cars still outsell light trucks, SUVs, and minivans about 6-to-1 in the US anyway, which is a good statistic considering the three most popular vehicles for sale here are (by far) US-built pickups. And for all the crap SUVs get about gas mileage, I haven't seen anybody pick on the Jaguar XKR (18 MPG), Lexus LS430 or Infiniti Q45 (21.5 MPG) or Ford Mustang Cobra (19 MPG).

I LIKE SUVs... I'm one of the 5 people in the UK that actually likes the Ford Explorer...!

I read today that the Bentley Speed 8 - the one that won Le Mans - averaged 5.58mpg for the entire 24h race... Beats an H2 hands down :D

Heh - I like SUVs and I don't even like the Explorer (well, I like the current one)... you truly are unique!

Passed an Avantime on the road yesterday... Nice. The Megane blows chunks though. :D

I wonder why? ahem more gas = more oil = more $$$ for you ahem.... anyway I drive a Ford Expedition and a truck and a honda so I'm semi contributing to our oil "wasting"

I have a flowmaster system on my car and I wouldn't be able to stand a silent car.... don't worry eventually we will have cars that run on...something...thats for the scientists to figure out....

Which measures out to be 2000+ MPH.

I get 28 MPG on the highway with my SRT4, and around 20-23 MPG in the city. But that's just daily driving. Once you push the car (like track driving) I get around 13-15 MPG...
