I learnt Latin and I'm still a retard and have no vocabulary skills.
(BTW it took me half an hour to write that, I had to look it all up in a dictionary and learn how to spell...)

Sods I haven't read the whole of this thread so if this has already been said then be free to slam me, but I heard somewhere if you ask all of Americas kids to ask them to point out the USA on a map of a globe then 30% of them will probably point to Europe or some other big continent.
I don't know how true it is but I believe it has some creadibility (<:::spelling)

I read the list, and although a good deal of it is true, it seemed as moralizing to read it now as it did to first read it when I was 15 or so.

Someone should tell that writer that not every teenager has it easy as he depicts. Sure, teenagers are immature and idealistic, but try telling a miserable teen that these are the best years of his/her life, and they'll reach for a shotgun in no time.
