The end race screen. What does it mean?

Maybe I'm a bit thick (probably) but what does it mean when the sign says, position raised 3, position now is 4 (or something like that)??
Do any of you know what it means, the latter part???

May you started 7th and finished 4th? Gaining 3 positions through the race.

Ok. Didn't explain it properly, sorry. The screen says 7th, for example. Then a new screen pops up where it says how many positions you gained (if you lost positions, then it won't say anything) and then it says "position is now 6". It's not related to your finishing position.
I'll try and do a screenshot later. That will be easier

Yea I agree it’s just an error in translation. I too ignore that part and just pay attention to positions gained. The latter part has nothing to do with your actual finishing position as it implies

The new position is the same as how many you gained. It's a translation issue.

Dunno why they say the same thing twice... or why they bother with the black screen with your finish position either... but hey ho
