The Exorcist meets A few good men, is the simplist way to sum up this film. Tom Wilkinson (Rush Hour) plays the priest accused of murder after an exorcism dosent go (completely) according to plan & in the long run results in Emily Rose's death. Laura Linney plays the lawyer defending him.

DO NOT beleive the trailers about this film. Even i thought it looked quite scary from the trailer & it really isnt. It is almost more a drama. Aparently some of the bits are scary (to my mum anyway), but all the proper "scary" bits have already somewhat been seen in the trailer & therefore zero effect when seeing the actual film. The only quite creepy bit (for me anyway) was the actual exorcism itself, which was done very well & IMO much better than "The Exorcist" (but thats because i hate the exorcist, its crap i think).

The lead actors are good. Tom isn't really anything special but does his job well enough. But its Laura Linney who (as always) is the best actor in this. The girl who plays Emily Rose is clearly a good actress, but all we ever see her do is scream and pull funny faces/positions (because of her possesion). Plus i know its bassed on true events, but it takes itself a tad to seriously.

If you can ignore the trailer & the fact its build as a really scary film when it isn't & just enjoy it for the almost popcorn film it is, its good enough.

6/10

The Exorcist has to be one of the best movies ever made. Think about when it was released! The story builds up so nice, all the details, the piano soudns, its all great.

People came out of the theatres throwing up, passing out, how many countries did it get banned from? Tons! Doesnt necesserily mean its good, but this movie is.

As for that emily rose thing.....I knew it would be a drama movie, if you see so many commercials about it it has to suck. I want horror, not drama.

Dont ever diss The exorcist, prodigious!

I can say what i like about The Exorcist. Its my opinion, its one of the scariest movies ever made, that i personally thought was not scary at all & absolutely boring as hell!

I can appreciate that at the time it might have been scary. But for me it just isnt. Bbut to be fair, i don't actually know anyone that found it scary, including my mum!

And its not cause its old. I think Halloween is excellent and thats 25 years old!

My point was though, Emily Rose is advertised as a full on Ring style Horror. Not a court room drama with some odd bits in the middle.

Im not saying that its not scary because its old. Just wanted to mention that back in the days this movie was damned scary, because it was pretty much one of a kind and people werent used to horror movies.

I know other people that dont find it scary, and others that died after that movie (including me, hehe).

and of courrse its ure oppinion, BUT DONT DISS THE EXORCIST :dopey:

The older horror movies are by far scarier than the new ones. All that computerized crap and loud noises, GREAT! Exorcist doesnt have any of that it has slow camera movements and it still scares the **** outta you.

They could have zoomed into the girls face very fast with a loud noise, that would hvae scared you 100%. But they didnt, they did it better.

all new films arent scary??

Find yourself a copy of "The eye" and its sequels! the 1st and 3rd film (10) are the only 2 films to have ever creeped me out (i dont get scared at films).

I no most new hollywood films arent scary, but then in comparison, most old films are now either. Look at the original Friday 13th, that seems terrible now (i think) yet Halloween is briliant!? its just odd.

I can "diss" The Exorcist, i think its not onlt not scary, its not a good film. Its boring! I understand that people found/find it scary, it just does absolutely nothing for me, SORRY!
