The fate of the GT4 Rally Photomode Competition

I am seeing that lately, the Rally competition only reaches 5/7 entries, so I spoke with Bram Turismo (still the «main» host of the competition) who told me to do a discussion thread about it.

So I ask if there is still interest in this competition?

I am thinking (and seeing the low entries) ending this competition on week 20, and maybe putting a top 5 poll format
(for the next couple of weeks), seeing that there is only 5/7 entries.

So, it is YES or NO? There isn’t a space for the maybe, just one of this two words(In this poll). You are free to state your opinion

Speaking on my name I didn´t enter last week just because the theme...didn´t catch my attention. But this comp is cool, keep doing it mate:tup:

Dont lose hope! the NC had 2 weeks of 0 entries in 7/8 and it pulled through after a week.

Dont worry, just try a different / more interesting theme!

Thanks for showing interest, but still, I am going to see. If we reach week 20 with only 5/7 entries, I am going to maybe make a long (or not) pause in the competition. What do you guys think of making a top 5 poll if entries only reach less than 7 entries?

I voted no, I don't see the Rally comp having any special appeal to it these days - it's just another comp to me and the rally aspect could easily be a theme for any of the other comps.

This is not criticism of how it is being run, rather that I feel it has run its course and has nothing new to offer.

Well i voted yes. I do really want to enter, but i'm too busy with my life right now. School, going out with family, lighting, etc....well you get the point. The good thing is my school holiday is coming in a few weeks time so maybe i can have more time for GT 👍

Exactly my opinion too.

The thing is, there aren't that many rally cars in the game, which makes it repetitive. Also, allowing other cars to be entered on this comp only makes it much more like almost any other comp.

LdS - I also very much agree that you've been doing an excellent job running it, so it has absolutely nothing to do with you, it's just the comp itself, it starts working against itself after a few weeks. Just my opinion. 👍

Thanks for the opinions so far, guys. I can see brock’s point and I kind of agree.

So, my thoughts are, I will run the competition just until week 20 (that are 4 more competitions counting with this one), just to end in a more rounded number. I am thinking of maybe doing something special for the last round, just to not have a poor end…

Has for doing another competition…I thought of doing a competition like the Creative/Artistic Competition (or re-open) since there was a mention and a kind of interest about it in a thread, but I still have to think on some rules and other things to add.

Although I haven't entered many comps,or any rally mode comps, I'd like to see it stay.Maybe include more production cars in dirt/snow to include more variety and interest.There's only so much we can do in GT4.....why not keep options open.
I plan to enter more comps in time....still honing skills and learning. I think we could use more comps ...and maybe rule variations to welcome/entice more members to enter and vote. 👍

Well, if you haven't even entered the rally comp once, it doesn't make much sense to ask for it to stay, does it?

As for the 'include more production cars' thing, it's exactly what will make it similar to many other comps and lose it's appeal even more.

As for the 'we could use more comps', do you really mean that? Just count how many comps are running at the moment. Don't forget that every now and then there's the tournament.
The more comps we have, the less participants on each (on most of them at least). That's exactly the opposite of what we want...

I for one would rather have 4 or 5 competitive and really interesting comps to participate than 9 or 10, in which we only get a few entries per week, and feel like I'm entering some of them only as an 'obligation' of some sort and not really enjoying myself while taking the shots and editing them.

Well i was thinking the same thing as well. I mean its pointless if we run a comp with very little entries. Well other than the Artistic Comp, is anyone interested in making a GT4 PhotoMode/Photoshop Competition? I mean it has to be one of the most interesting comps out there and the theme can be really interesting to bring in more entries. Well what do you guys think? Maybe we can suggest better ideas for another comp in replacement for this one.....

Well, I think Beerz make a interesting «question»
There is actually to many competitions for the entrants number.

I am studying some old competitions format; seeing if I can get something interesting. Doing also a market work, searching what is interesting our not in a competition.
I think doing a competition isn’t only, have an idea and put it to practice. It has all to be meticulously thought and some research work and market work is also needed. I learned a lot when I’ve done that Interest threat about Scenery Shots comp.
