Anyone find this impossible to do?? I do & I think it has to do with the fact that I can't turn that cursed ASM off! Slows me right down everytime I try turn at Daytona! Ive cornered the Daytona corners with pretty much same setup as the challenge car at around 200mph & ASM slows me down to 180!! Anyone got any tips on how to combat this cos I've pretty much given up on it!

At Daytona follow Jimmie Johnson around until the back straight and then draft passed the other cars. I did this with the second lap to spare.

Switch the ABS off and the ASM will be off too, you don't need to brake anyway.

I found this out the hard way, took me so many tries with it until I turned it off. Then I did it first time, got the #99 car although I want Ricky Bobby's one, oh wait... :P

That was my exact problem as well until I read this thread. Earned my free NASCAR...the Busch M&M Camry hahaha.
Ah no way, 500k wasted on a NASCAR when I coulda got 1 for free! Ah well, I like my Dale #88 NASCAR cos I have an Adidas jumper with his car on the back of it!

I wanted Jr's car as well. But this race is impossible if you don't mod your aids. Now that I too see ABS needs to be turned off, I will give it another go to get me another NASCAR.

Finally....didn't think about ABS either. But DAMN isn't it annoying that you're not allowed to slightly hit another car? I mean....whenever I see Nascar I see massive crash pileups.

Those massive crash pileups don't always happen, though. Usually it's lap after lap of watching GeneriCars make a lot noise. I personally find it boring to watch on TV. It's sad because a lot of spectators only care about the crashes. Older NASCAR events (up till the early '90s) were a lot more exciting because the cars in the organization were actually based off their real-life counterparts. It was fun to watch these Thunderbirds, Superbirds, Chargers, etc. struggle to keep moving at 150-200 mph.

Now driving today's NASCAR GeneriCars in GT5, on the other hand, is anything but boring! :D I'm looking forward to some NASCAR in GT5.

Any tips when it's not possible to turn off ABS and ASM?

It seems the recent updates now forces ASM on and lowest ABS setting is 1. I really should have completed this before the updates

The other cars seem to faster around the track, drafting or not, as long as ASM is active. Hell, I have to draft them just to stay within a reasonable distance. Once I fall a bit too far to draft they just start pulling away, it's ridiculous.

I've already cleared Jeff's NASCAR event (did it before the updates), but the A-Spec NASCAR championship is a real headache so far.

I could bronze this one yesterday with a DS3 and ABS1 (... and thus ASM). I had a few tries where I could have golded it but did "hit" them while overtaking.

You have to draft (very precisely) the 11th car and get past the 10th without hitting it of course. Then take the 1st steep turn just below the dashed line and be sure to get it really smooth.
Have about ~200mph at the end and be about ~1.7-1.9 secs behind. If you manage this you are in draft range and from then on its "just" a matter of drafting and not hitting the others ;)

(I think you need luck to catch the first 2, because there have been runs where they could seperate from the main field.)

These events are an absolute joke now, I dont see why I should be made to do them with ASM turned on and ABS set to 1. As far as I know Nascars dont have any of this kind of technology and im sure if they did they wouldnt be forced to use it. I started again on GT life and the first time around managed to easily complete all the Nascar special events with golds and now im struggling to get silvers. I hope they change this in the next patch because I dont see why there was a need for it to be changed in the first place.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it try. I managed to get Silver by luck, but it's the only Nascar event I haven't got gold for yet. The ASM just makes me lose too much speed in the corners.

I'll follow your instructions and report back. 👍

Golded a couple of days ago with a ds3 & from memory you cant turn abs off. Its fairly easy & found that if you get your line right & avoid everyone there's no need slow down at all for turns 2 & 4 & this is where you'll catch the leaders. Think i took the lead with about half a lap left.

Hello everyone my first post been doing a lot of reading here got a free 250 ps3 a few weeks back and have been playing this ridicules game loaned to me by my neighbor lol! Love to hate it no doubt about it without this forum as a compass gt5 is just to crazy to go at all by yourself. You would have wasted to much time and credits buying things you don't need like I did when I first fired up this crazy game.

The way I did it was just to cut off the pack coming out of pit row. Get the good bump and your third, hold back until the last two laps and battle to keep the lead. When I did ic 10 my main goal was to take out the lead car got'em going into the last turn and just rammed the crap out of him lol. I'm using my logi momo wheel off my pc so there is no adjustment what so ever. I managed to get to lvl 32 a spec and lvl 33 b spec won al of my cars for the challenges including the x2010 for b spec'ing. I'm grinding the a spec using the rubberband trick in like the wind @ indy. It's the first time I'm doing something like this up till now everything was earned.

Anyway just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Took an hour or longer to get it right. Hope this helps.

At the start, draft the Jimmy Johnson car right at your front. Keep the steering steady so that you won't lose precious speed by nudging the wall. Next, keep on the outside line, or to make matters simple, keep following Jimmy Johnson. Exit speed of that corner should be 200 mph or above. Now keep to the right because that's where most of the racers are. Before attacking the next corner, you must be 380 km/h or above. Take the inside, but don't be too dangerously close to the line. Just a little distance from the line and the cars and you'll be okay. Stay in the inside line before the back straight to overtake these guys. You must be like 5th place or something now. Slingshot the remaining and overtake on the inside. Be careful though, one of these guys will spin you out, leaving you in frustration.

Just a bit of advice: Be extra careful, because even the slightest nudge will disqualify you. Leave a bit of space between each other. Don't hit the wall, it may lose precious speed, or even worse, you will get stuck there like a magnet and be slowed down.

I noticed that you won't be disqualified that easily when near the finish line. What's this?

aaaah RAAAAAAAAAAA!!
Golded this just now :)
Was in out of car view all the way, overtook 1st and 2nd after the corner so knowing I would be slipstreamed, switched to interior view so as to block them- got bumped from behind to go over the line lol.
This was a mission!

I've already cleared (did it before the updates), but the A-Spec NASCAR championship is a real headache so far.

The NASCAR championship it´s really easy. I have the Red Bull NASCAR and if you put in your car the right adjusments it will be really easy. Another tip: If you are using manual shifting never use the 1st gear otherwise your car will easily spin out. But the Jeff's NASCAR event in Daytona it´s far harder. It´s just my point of view.

I actually found Daytona 10 laps in NASCAR Series quite hard with Racing hard tyres on... took me about 10 tries. I could never get away far from them, they will always catch me up.

ABS 10 BB 0-0 ftw. Gz dynasty_dennis.
I also changed FFB on my G27 to 8, wich made it easier for me to prevent hitting the walls.
First few times I Always managed to take 1th place in corner after the long straight but got overtaken or P.I.T.-ted at the end. Overtaking them inside lowers your exiting speed to much and the will catch up on you.
Overtaking them on the outside will give enough advantage to reach finish in 1th.
