The Ford GT Test Car

At first I regretted buying the car as I had no idea at knowing how to control it. But after forcing myself driving it on Suzuka countless times, I learned the limits this car can go to, and how to keep it there to dance around the AI. Now I can't stop using this car.

Anybody else feel the same way about the GT?

I am still at processes at controlling the beast. Sometimes I got it, sometimes I dont. I think my problem is I always choose other cars before this one. I need to practice bit more.

Throttle control is paramount to maintain the line during turns compared to other cars. But that's what makes this car fun: Controlled uncontrollability.

I find it too frustrating to really compete with it against other cars, but its fun for timetrials and it could be awesome for tracks like la Sarthe, because its extremely fast on highspeed corners and straights.

Ford gt test car-only one word DISASTER,I am loving the tuned corvette, although I did a 1.59 with the ford in s-10 but its like the throttle is connected to a jet propeller. The problem is that its too light at the front. While driving this car I never lift just brake and accelerate together while doing corners as I use a sixaxis, when I have to slow down I just press square but never take the thumb of x,it helps me to some extent.

I know what you're talking about, as I too struggled earlier with the front being light, making it slide around if you don't throttle it a bit. But after driving that, I felt the acceleration was much more responsive compared to the tuned vette. And i love that Vette btw.

It is a throttle management car! ALWAYS have a little throttle on at all times! Fun car to drive!

True guys but I think this can be managed a bit more, its my secret but anyway, give it a long 2nd gear ratio and try and ride height helps also.I try to keep the rear lower than the front and it helps with oversteer.

Also I would like any help with the mine's,I have gold in s-10 and s-7 with ford test car, amuse, blitz, corvette and viper tuned,111r tuned but can't get the mine's right, the highest is 2nd which is 4 or 6 seconds behind the leader.I have tried to give it long and short ratios but can't get the right pace, any suggestions would be welcomed.

I actually made my GT more stiff in the front and shortened all the gear rations to get the best acceleration. I kept the 6th ratio at 215 mph though.

As long as no one cuts corners with the Ford GT as it is the fasted car in the game on the straights with its tons of acceleration. Tame that beast if you can but true racing comes from staying on the tarmac. I have the Ford GT, but it gets a little boring always winning and without much of a challenge. By fine tuning my other cars so I can be faster and it is more challenging than barely touching the throttle!!

ford gt test car is fantastic. i cant stop myself of using it on fuji all the time :D
like you said, if you get how to control the car, it will be your nr.1 :D
it's a ferrari killer:cool:

Love the Car, can´t stop using it, just not even close to being consistent enough with it yet, hmm should get back to it i guess. :)

I find it overpowered (not literally, just as a package in online racing) which spoils the experience for me. I always end up racing alone, or against other GTLMs whilst leaving anybody who can't keep hold of the slipstream.

I think the steering is a bit too sensitive, turning down max steering angle improved it a lot for me. I'm using the DFP, btw

It's a real beast though, when driven properly.

there is only 1 good thing about the car. it is the fastest way to make money.

the only point of the car is so you can use it to get the f2007

Today i tried the GT LM the first time.

i drove 2 hours on suzuka... arcade TT.

i reached the 3rd place so far... half tenth behind the 1st... but i used no clutch. the first (GEORGE_GR33) used Clutch.

this car feels like a pure racecar on shiddy tyres. this car should have original slicks... no noobie shiddy tyres :).

whatever.... it was the hardest car to control in gt5p for me so far.

The great thing about the Ford GT Test Car is that it taught me the finer aspects of controlling a mid-engine car that the Ferrari or the Lotuses didn't really do for me.

I first tried this car in GT5P Spec 2 on Sixaxis using a Dragonistic tune and the d-pad, I could see how much the car had been improved by the tune at 750PP Drag had created, but it was still utterly undriveable for me.

I tried again about 2 months ago for 800PP Suzuka having gotten comfortable using a G25 with Gran Turismo. Immediately, and I mean immediately this became the most exhilirating and favourite car of mine in GT5P. A terrific challenge and the only car at 800PP that to me actually feels and behaves like a race car, things like the Amuse and Corvette feel far too much like trains at that level of grip.

While I do agree that it requires deft throttle control at almost all parts of a track you can learn to use the considerable lift off oversteer to great advantage, for example Gyaku Bank Curve at Suzuka (the one before Dunlop), quite often mid corner I lift off completely there and the car just points exactly where I want it to for early and significant throttle application.

Having spent a long time driving the Ferrari 512BB on S3 tyres around Suzuka at 550PP, I found the GTLM had to be driven in a remarkably similar way to achieve good laptimes, everything just happens a loooot faster :)

For me this is the absolute best experience avaliable on GT5P, Ford GTLM, pro physics, at 800 or 750PP at Suzuka. Absolutely wonderful.

For anyone who wants to tame this car and really get into it, my own replay and especially FAK's, Ramon's and Bruno's replays can be very insightful

All the best

I was playing around with this car last night and was all over the place. After a little practice and left foot braking and throttle feathering I started to understand how to control it. Now it is one of m favorite cars to drive just because of the fun factor.

I disagree - dark_ruffo 's method is much quicker, as it only involves two laps and a 20-second pause, see last post on this page:

I've yet to get the hang of the Ford GT, but having got my head around the tuned Elise, I may try again.

Indeed the car is great. After a while, your feet get tuned into the throttle modulation, and you know exactly how much power to apply. After a while it comes naturalley.

However, the car can get good lap times once you've mastered the throttle but you cant be flamboyant (aggresive) and throw the car around, because if you do, you will spin. This means you cant push for more time, defend, overtake aswell as some other cars.

When tuning the car, I give the car 1 set more grippier rear wheels (I.E: S2 - S3, R2 - R1, do not use different lettered wheels), and put the aero on the rear much higher than the front. This pretty much cures all the oversteer and brings bundles of time.

When I first bought this car I found it a bit of a challenge to control. Over time, I learnt to control the throttle more efficiently. Once you get the hang of this car it's a joy to drive 👍
