THIS TIME I will ask why it is that whenever people on the internet discuss anime, it always comes back to Evangelion, but not only that, when people who have seen Evangelion have a conversation in real life, it always comes back to Evangelion.

DeathSmiles, I don't think Sephy will enjoy your avatar.

Also, I'm slightly tipsy, so I'm using this as an excuse to catch up with "Attack on Titan".

Only happens here because a bunch of blokes watched it and are utter fanboys who've influence others to watch it too. Just talk about another show because they don't watch a lot of shows anymore anyway.

Because there's a lot to discuss. And with the new movies coming out that differ from the show, it lends itself to even more discussion.

Andy, stop hating because people like something that happens to be popular.

Saw 3.33 for the first time today. It was amazing! I need the last movie right now!

Because it was an absolute game changer back in the day, I lived trough it and cannot tell you how much it changed the anime face when it came out. And nearly two decades later, it's still making a fuzz. You can like it or not, but as the Beatles, you can't deny that Evangelion is the most influential anime show ever created. You just can't expect such stuff won't be talked about, specially with the movies these days.

The show up to episode 24, then you WILL NOT watch eps 25 and 26, and will substitute them with the End of Evangelion movie. You can then and only then watch the lame eps. 25 and 26, and then start with the new movies.

Fact.

IGNORE THE ABOVE. End of Evangelion (well, the second half of it, anyway) would be completely incomprehensible without watching the original TV ending first, but in turn the original TV ending doesn't make an awful lot of sense without watching End of Evangelion afterwards.

People should watch both, TV then End, and make up their own minds on what they think.

Also, the original episode 26 is hilarious, sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentionally, sometimes it's rather ambiguous as to whether it's supposed to be funny or not. But hilarious, nonetheless.

IGNORE ROGER

Do as Cano says. He said to watch both, unless you lack reading comprehension. HE just told you the correct order.

In all seriousness, a lot of the things in End wouldn't make a great deal of sense without watching Episode 26 first, but make complete sense if you do. Plus, the difference in animation quality would just make the TV ending look terrible after watching End, rather than making End look amazing after watching TV.

Hei

Also, I merely told people to watch them in the correct order. I am aware Cano told people to watch both.

I've always seen it as being that the end of TV shows you what happens, but EoE shows you how it happens.

I also believe the TV ending should be seen and then the series be finished with EoE. Makes it a more complete experience after watching everything in my opinion. I think it also leaves you more depressed which is a better feeling considering how NGE is and it leaves you less wanting to punch your TV out of frustration when episode 26 ends.

My 2 yen:

Watch 3.33 in Japanese unsubbed first, then EoTV (minus the last two episodes), then ReDeath, then EoE, then Kare Kano, then 1.11 and 2.22 dubbed, then Gunbuster, then 3.33 backwards (but subbed this time), then Evangelion@School, then time travel to the future and watch 6.66, then finally Ever Re-Take.

Things to never watch: Death and Rebirth, 4.44 and 5.55, Neon Menaces Evangelion, Steins;Gate, the last two episodes of EoTV.

Could someone explain all the hate for the TV ending? Sure, the psychology was awful, but they were generally fairly well written, and, despite the fact that the animation was done on a really tight budget, they did actually make it look pretty nice artistically. (Not knowing of the budget issues at the time I first watched it, I interpreted much of it as being stylistic rather than cheap, although the bit at the end of the high school section where it suddenly jumps to felt tip did make me cringe.)

Also, as I have noted before, the TV ending is hilarious to watch, whereas (most of, I'll make an exception for "Komm, süßer Tod) End of Evangelion wasn't.

I disagree. Watch End of Evangelion first, then Evangelion@School, then ReDeath, and finally David Lynch's version of Dune.

Instead of bickering about opinions, why don't you guys actually just explain why you should watch the series in a certain order?

IGNORE HEI.

Would you trust a poster with a user title like that?

Fixed. :P

But Hei is actually making sense. There are scenes in Eps. 25/26 that only make sense when you watch EoE. EoE and EoTV complement each other.
