Hello fellow GTP members!

I recently completed The Run in Need for Speed The Run for the 3rd time. Despite its many flaws the game continues to attract me. This has inspired me to start a weekly racing league loosely based on The Run. The race will have 3 subraces taking place every Saturday evening 8 PM GMT+2, except for the fourth and final weekends on which 4 races will be completed.

The goal is to provide an experience as similar to The Run as possible with the realistic physics of GT6, real racers instead of AI and (hopefully) a more unique story line with less cliches... I have already finished the basic story line and locations and the idea is to keep it lean (to avoid having to read walls of text ;) ), but interesting. The race will take place on many different, diverse tracks including user created ones spanning across 9 countries (Japan, US, England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria , Italy, France and Spain) and 3 continents (Asia, North America and Europe). After each race the results will be posted and the position of each racer in "The Golden Globe Sprint" will be calculated. During the Sprint you will have to drive many different kinds of cars in varying conditions.

Clean, fun racing is encouraged and tuning is unnecessary. All assists will be allowed to increase accessibility to drivers of all skill levels, but driving with only ABS enabled is encouraged!

Constructive criticism is very welcome!

You will have to evade quite a few angry people during this difficult high-speed journey:

Story:
After coming home from your boring 9-5 job you discover while checking your bank account that you have received 500 000 GT6 credits due to a software bug at your bank.
Having just achieved financial freedom, you decide to fulfill your lifelong dream of racing high performance cars by entering in an illegal international street race called "The Golden Globe Sprint".
You buy a high end super car in Tokyo, at the start of the race. You will race around the world until reaching the finish in Madrid, Spain. Your car comes with Sports Hard class tires and you aren't allowed to swap them during this leg of the race.
Allowed cars for this round:
  • Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG '10
  • Ford GT '05 or '06
  • Lexus LFA '10
  • Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 '08
  • Nissan GT-R Black Edition '12

///Race 1
Track: Tokyo R246
Description: The Japanese Highway Patrol has already taken notice of the race and there will sure be a trusty GT-R unit waiting for you and the other participants, so try to battle for an early lead while keeping your brand new expensive car in one piece despite being pursued by the local cops.

///Race 2
Track: Special Stage Route 5
Description: While you may have managed to shake the Japanese Highway Patrols GT-R for now, the increased presence of the police has made the local yakuza very angry and they have decided to take that anger out on the participants of the race! Look out for a black Toyota wagon!

///Race 3
Track: Aogashima Island (Japan National Route 236)
Description: Push your car to the max on this super technical mountain road on this extraordinary tropical island

Story:
Shipping your car to the US would take way too long, so you are forced to buy a new one there. There is only one car dealer near the first checkpoint in the US and unfortunately it only has a few domestic sports cars available at the moment. Modifications aren't allowed in this part of the race. You are also required to run Comfort Soft class tires.
Allowed cars for this round:
  • Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 '13
  • Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) '06
  • Dodge Viper GTS '13
  • Ford GT '06
///Race 4
Track: Vulture Rd
Description: Some angry locals will be setting up road blocks in protest of the arrival of the participants in the USA, dodge them at all costs!

///Race 5
Track: Border Run Pass (Rt. 10)
Description: Be careful with the throttle of your powerful American car on this narrow technical pass!

///Race 6
Track: Rt. 190/Beatty Rd California or Sierra Road Way 3.0 or Lost Valley Rd
Description: The California Highway Patrol will be cracking down on any illegal street racing on their roads as a result of "The Golden Globe Sprint", try as hard as possible to outrun their black Corvettes!

Story: You are forced to sell your car in the US, because shipping it to Europe would take too long. You will be facing a lot of narrow, technical roads in Europe where simply having large amounts of horse power won't buy you much, so many racers decide to opt for light and agile cars, you additionally need to keep an eye on your finances. This means you will be driving either a hot hatch or an economical lightweight sports car.
Allowed cars for this round:
  • Lotus Europa Special '72
  • Toyota 86 GT '12
  • Mazda Roadster RS (NC) '07
  • Renault Clio R.S. '11
  • Ford Focus ST '06
  • Peugeot RCZ '10
  • Lotus Elise '11
  • BMW Z4 '03
///Race 7
Track: London
Description:

///Race 8
Track: Bergstraße
Description:

///Race 9
Track: Rt. 2 (Rush Hollow Hill Climb)
Description:

Story: The bank meanwhile has discovered the results of the bug and has recovered as much money as possible from your bank account! Luckily you were smart enough to keep 50 000 credits in cash with you for emergencies. It seems you will have to use this for any future repairs or replacements of/to your car.
Allowed cars for this round:
same as last round

//Race 10
Track: Wiener Höhenstraße (part I)
Description:

//Race 11
Track: Wiener Höhenstraße (part II)
Description:

///Race 12
Track: Matterhorn Rotenboden
Description:

///Race 13
Track: Eiger Nordwand Short Track
Description:

Story: The action of the race has lead to "The Golden Globe Sprint" receiving extensive worldwide news coverage. Unfortunately this has also attracted the attention of high end car thieves in Rome. A gang of extremely skilled car thieves managed to steal the cars of the participants. With only 50 000 credits you won't be able to buy a car quite as fast as your last ride. Another problem is that there are only a few cars you can obtain in time at your current location. The required tire class is Comfort Soft again. Tip: don't forget to purchase a set of both dirt and snow tires for your new car!
Allowed cars for this round:
  • Subaru Impreza WRX STI '07
  • Hyundai Genesis Coupé 3.8 Track '13
  • Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34) '08
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR '05
  • Honda S2000 '06
///Race 14
Track: Toscana
Description:

///Race 15
Track: Circuito di Rome
Description:

///Race 16
Track: Chamonix Main
Description:

Story: It still seems like it was yesterday when you were sitting in your brand new super car at the start of the race in Tokyo. You have seen countries of 3 different continents. The only thing stopping you from finding out if you will reach the finish line in Madrid first is a mountain range in the Andalucia province of Spain.
Allowed cars for this round:
same as last round

///Race 17
Track: Côte d'Azur
Description:

///Race 18
Track: Volcanic Complex

///Race 20
Track: Circuito de Madrid
Description:

Note: Once you have chosen a certain car from the list of allowed cars for a (couple of) round(s) you cannot switch to another car on the list!

A big thanks to the creators of the awesome user created tracks!

I just gave the location list a major overhaul (one weekend was removed completed in the progress) and car choice now also is restricted with tuning prohibited, this was done to simplify participation and organization following advice from @Sick Cylinder. I have updated the map accordingly. A first test round will be held this Saturday @ 8 PM GMT+2 to try out some tracks and check if the cars can keep up with each other and if the police cars have the necessary speed advantage. Potential participants can of course also use the test round to see if they are interested in entering in The Golden Globe Sprint, participating in the test round does not mean you are committed to participating in the Sprint itself! I should note that things will probably be a lot more polished in the official Sprint races than in the test round, so keep that in mind when evaluating your entry ;). The schedule for the first test round will be as follows:
///Race 1 (with cops)
Track: Tokyo R246

///Race 2 (with yakuza)
Track: Special Stage Route 5

///Race 3
Track: Aogashima Island

///Race 4 (with cops)
Track: Sierra Road Way 3.0

The schedule for the second test round will be:
///Race 1
Track: Wiener Höhenstraße (Part II)

///Race 2
Track: Toscana

///Race 3
Track: Chamonix Main

///Race 4
Track: Volcanic Complex

The second test round probably will take place the week after the first one.

I just created a club for the Sprint, name: "The Golden Globe Sprint". I currently have a public pilot/test room club room open to attract racers that aren't on gtplanet, feel free to drop in if you want to test some cars for the Sprint, get to know what it's like, see some tracks that will be in the Sprint or just want to have some fun street racing on cool road like tracks! ;)

Room ID: 1472-4711-0038-4891-1018

Edit: Room closed, nobody joined :(

I have decided to cancel the test round due to lack of interest. I have also decided to postpone The Golden Globe Sprint indefinitely. If you are interested in the Sprint, please send me a PM.

P.S.: I already have an idea for a new club that will target a much wider audience, as well as have reduced effort to join and will be more open to non-GTplanet racers.
