It's more of a roof cam, it's pretty poorly implemented.
There are many ways around it, if you can't find them, that's your problem.

I don't like the roof camera because when driving using a wheel it feels like... Well, sitting on the roof.

There are ways around this? Please share, I wish I could play from bonnet cam.

From experience it's roof cam more than bonnet cam most of the time. There are a few bonnet cams and then you have a few LMPs with the camera barely above bumper cam but most are right at the top of the windscreen and too high.

The roof cam to me feels like I'm laying on the car roof. I actually still like the roof cam. I mean, the hood view from GT4 would be a nice option, but I still think the roof cam is not that bad.
The only problem I have with the 3rd person cam though is that some cars are closer to it than others, would it kill PD to have some consistency?
GT4 did not have a hood cam either. It used the roof cam. I used to like the roof cam when I played GT4 but then I started playing Forza and a couple of other games that had a proper hood view and I like these much better. I generally switch it up a bit when I drive sometimes using bumper view sometimes using cockpit and sometimes using roof but I would prefer hood to any of these.

You can zoom in and zoom out using the Multi-screen feature, you don't need triple screens for that, this fixes cars that are too far away in 3rd person view and others that are too far away from the steering wheel in cockpit view. Some cars are already too close for this feature to work properly though. Of course this isn't a real solution but it will give a better and wider roof cam or even a better cockpit view with wider FOV, sense of speed get's better too.
It's like using ''zoom2/zoom1/wide'' in the quick options menu but instead of presets that skip too many values in between you get a slider which you can set to whatever you want between 0 and 100 and it affects all views.
This works, I'm using 92.

I haven't played in a while (in fact before the 2.0 patch) but seem to remember something about this. I cannot remember if I tried it or not.
This is nice info and I'm sure many people were unaware of this. This begs the question, why did they hide it away in a menu that most people would think doesn't apply to them?
Also I still maintain that this doesn't solve the lack of a proper bonnet cam. But good work nonetheless![]()
Well, it's supposed to be for triple-screens, it just happens to be beneficial to non multi-screen users too. The same works in FM4 but unfortunately, the sense of speed gets butchered if you do this.
It does however show that FOV and zoom are possible to adjust, so why not just give us the option to change it via a slider in the regular options screen? Surely it wouldn't be that hard to implement.
+1
thats what I also think, its not hard to adjust the FOV. They could simple add it to the quick options in the pause menu !
Somebody should might open a new thread regarding this hidden "feature" I'm sure many people would like to play around with that!

This is the most hillarious pic I've seen in a long time. I couldn't stop laughing for a whole minute. I can't stand this hood view I prefer similar to Forza hood view. GT hood view feels like your on top of the roof no kidding. This hood view looks tiny and still feels like a 3rd person view but instead of seeing the entire car you have a hood view on screen only. How I feel when I use the roof cam:
