It would be better if all colors were unlocked from the start.

Or, just like real life, you can mix your own colours. how about metaflake?

How about an option to strip all the paint off the car and it slowly gets rusty. Then, you should be able to shoot a coat of laquer over the top to protect the rusted effect.

Rat look for GT6. Who agrees? :lol:
 
Ok so demo isn't so positive, no grid start and lack of 'I' in 'AI'. God, hope they change these in the final model.

Speak for yourself, I think it's been very positive so far.

Don't forget that a lot of the functionality normally in the full game has not been enabled with this demo - so we simply don't know if rolling stats will be standard.

True point, i wasn't saying it wasn't positive just things that have been asked for that we more top of the wish list to improve the game (possible get new gamers interested) has been unchanged so far. The demo itself is great but things need change, grid start and competitive AI ......... This is a must for racing games.
 
Can I just point out that they have once again made it so that the game uploads your time while you're still hotlapping and retrieves and displays your placing. Which is great, except that it comes twenty seconds into the lap and is accompanied by a massive hitch in the frame rate. Forget about trying to do a hot lap with that in the way.

Basically, if you do a competitive lap, the lap after it is toast. Thing is, I remember this from the second GT Academy. How is this still a problem? Do it properly, or just upload/retrieve while we're not racing if you can't.

Good job I'm in a country that can't compete in GTA, or it might be REALLY annoying. ;)

Ahh, okay - sorry I misconstrued your comment.
 
There are a lot of positives in the demo but the 'races' were awful. Rolling starts with huge gaps and absolutely awful AI, no challenge whatsoever.

Yep, I noticed this the first time I did the final test, completed the first lap and a huge jerk in the framerate meant I missed my gear change and fudged the first corner.
 
Negative are obvious but positive can be

- better garage layout, includes "search by category" now and race gear is also in there. Plus a new gallery view to see all (i guess, its locked atm), tuning is also now a sub menu not a menu for each car.
- information layout seems better, with less animation and moving pieces.
- current home screen is simple yet show everything you want, will be subject to change with allot of new stuff coming
- dealer loads quicker without the stupid animations in and out, clearer picture without the pointless 4 stage backgrounds
- event layout seems more thought out, clean lines, important info and stands out more
- race loaded almost instantly, small data yes but still....

Negative i've found, for me are
- the home screen is to xbox-y for a sony exclusive
- the music and sounds are repetitive and annoying, hope theres an off button
- AI is still lacking
- Grid starts are no where to be seen
- colour chips are still present........why
- in dealer, should be an option to add factory stuff like other wheels, sports kit etc but currently, no option like that
- leaf sounds like a jet, especially in replays

Things i like
- while testing, car sparks when hitting or grinding the walls
- tire gauge shows levelling not just a picture
- fuel gauge is similar, more accurate
- more tyre squeal under braking and understeer
- better body movement through turns
- body pitching under braking to is much improved
- kicking up leaves on autumn ring, nice touch

But So far, PD heading in correct direction to make a good game great.

I've also noticed that the grip levels in the demo are huge. There's a G-meter along the bottom of the screen. Try reading it through a corner. There's no way a Leaf can manage 1.0G on anything short of a race tyre.
 
It's strange that US members haven't completely flooded this thread because of the MASSIVE delay in the demo.

Massive delay? It's a few hours and you've got 25 days to set your time. There is no competition between countries so it doesn't matter.
 
Think for GT7 they need to visit a brake company to tune there braking as well. And grip does seem a bit over, drifting cuts out half way through corner in the 370z cuz it regains grip, good for the race i guess lol

It still seems unfair to see all of this content and reviews and yet we haven't even experienced it for ourselves. 👎

Unfair? It's a few hours mate, hardly a huge wait. Full games usually release a few days apart in different countries so this isn't even as bad as that.
 
Sparky calm down before you lose your marbles on a forum and start raging at your PS3.

1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10....... All better now. Just wait for GT Academy to appear spontaneously on your PS3's Store and have fun in a bunch of Nissans and test out the new physics in an electric car, a Z car and a GTR.
 
still the same horrible clutch simulation (if you can call it that because its nothing like a real car) from gt5 :( you can't upshift while having any amount of throttle
 
I noticed when I went to download there's also a promotional package for GT5. Is there anything in there that wasn't included in the GT5 academy edition? I only ask here as I'm already subscribed to this thread.

After trying Academy 2013 (powered by GT 6) i must say that the gameplay feels somewhat unrealistic, plastic, and visually the same as GT5. Didn't notice not a single difference, visually, but the gameplay is soooo dull. I don't know, thats how it feels to me.

Then i started GT 5 and wow, after 2 hours of playing Academy 2013 GT, GT 5 feels like heaven.....

Well see what will final release of GT 6 deliver..... But for PS3, not much i think so...

You didn't notice any visual differences on Autum Ring with a different time of day, low sun, shadows...time for a quick trip to the Optician for you I think.
 
I am currently trying GT6 out and I can say I have not seen such a massive improvement is physics since GT4.

First of all: The Car feels alive, it isn't actively trying to kill you but it still challenges you when you push it too much (I've tried both the Leaf and the Z34). It's harder to lock the brakes (ABS 0 on Z34 at GVEast). You can feel the car through turns more than in GT5 and you can tell out what she needs from you better even on a DS3. Tire load transfers to more wheels (Noticed it on the Leaf most as it's FF).

The graphics: All the tracks look prettier (Autumn Ring and Silverstone take the cake). The Cars look brighter on the tracks (The Car's interior can be seen better from outside than in GT5). The Shadows have been cleaned up (Still some jaggies but meh). The cars themselves reflect the surroundings more, they look cleaner and overall they blend in with the tracks more.

The UI: It's a big improvement over GT5, it doesn't feel clunky and slow, all neatly placed menus. The track loading screen is glorious and all the necessary info of the track is neatly placed on the pre-race menu (I still have doubts about time and weather change on all the Tracks seen so far). The Start button menu now present is a useful addition.

A.I: Still stupid and Zombiie like.

Sounds: Pretty much the same on the Z and the Leaf (Though they already sounded rather good in GT5).

I have no complaints about this game anymore.

Played the demo and it was about what I expected. Improved physics and little else besides product placement of epic proportions.

The AI is still superglued to the road. No matter how hard you bash or lean on them they always follow their line perfectly. They're still slow. You can start 10 seconds behind the leader and win by 5 seconds after a 2 lap race. Crash physics have improved by about 5%.

Armco and concrete barriers appear in straight jagged sections instead of being rounded and smooth (Edit: Just noticed Autumn Ring has rounded barriers but Grand Valley does not. A bad example of inconsistency). Any texture not immediately near the road is extremely low res. And Im not going to give them a pass for not including damage in this demo. All other racers have damage in their demos so no excuse here.

Really saw nothing to get me excited. Just more of the same. GT5 with better physics and somewhat cleaned up graphics (still has framerate drops and flickering). Really shocked people have said Drive Club looks worse then this. If so wow. GT6 looks good but its decidedly last gen to a trained eye.
