I was blasting through Sarthe where there are helicopters above and I became curious as to why we don't have a replay option from their vantage point. You know, like that ending movie of Gran Turismo 4 with the 350Z at Nordschleife.
It seems like a missed opportunity to have the helicopters but not that replay option, oh well.

I dream to catch one like in GTA SA and fly above the ring.... :lol:
 
Something odd I noticed is that a lot of circuits have these helicopters flying around now, Interlagos has it now and I remember it now having them, Sarthe as well.
I can’t put my finger on it exactly. But over recent months I’m convinced PD have been updating the tracks with improved details and effects. Track textures, tyre marbles, trackside crowds, lighting, effects, the AA solution. All seem subtly improved.

GT Sport has always been a good looking title. But if you where being harsh you could question just how big an improvement it was over GT6 (resolution aside). But I look at it now and it really has that wow factor at all points. Not just select angles or particular weather conditions.

Yeah I think marbles and skid marks came with an update, I didnt notice them 11 months ago but maybe I'm not very perceptive.

It's not very subtle when you include Frame per second into account.

Just compare GT6 to GTSport gameplays.
 
The circuit detail and what can be seen at a distance is optimized for view from the car, this would have to be vastly improved for the surrounding areas for the helicopter views to be possible so I doubt it will ever happen.

The helicopter is much further away though, so the level of detail would probably be fine.

Yes. It’s lot’s of smaller improvements over recent months. The AA solution has improved as I no longer notice shimmering or strange effects with trackside fencing, foliage etc. Likewise crowds trackside and in grandstands always looked a little crude. Now they are very convincing.

I guess these are some of the benefits when a title is supported well after launch. No doubt PD are also refining their engine for the next GT too.
 
I hate helicopter sound in game, it often covers engine sound making difficult to choose the right time for shifting.

Last week Gr4 at DT S the sharp right at the bottom of the hill before the Bus Stop, think we call it Essar Drop Corner lol Helicopter flies over as we get into the corner, I dont hear me or anybody else, yo man, cant hear tires nothing, on DS4 we got not much to go on sound is critical
 
Speaking of added details, I remember seeing this walkway above the grid at Big Willow earlier last year. I think it was during a Sport Mode race, but it's not something I've seen since.
 
It about the feelings in general, engine, tyres, other cars nearby...try to play with TV on mute, it's not the same.

Uhh yeah, thats my point.

I wont play on mute because the sound is giving me info my butt would be giving me in my real car. One is given more feedback through a wheel and it helps but on a DS4 FFB is not as informative. I rely on sound to give me situational information. Since this is not my real car my Butt feels my cumfortable couch.

In V-Rally 4, it's the other way - there's no helicopter (except for some locations like the Chinese hillclimb) but there is always a helicopter camera available in replays (with the chopper's sound).
 
When hud gives extremely important infos about tyres, speed and rpm? Nope I dont. I only tried hud off once and it was time trial.
I stopped using it once I started playing with VR. When I went back to my pancake display I found I didn't need it anymore.

As in anti-aircraft firing Solutions?
What tracks have anti-aircraft guns?

It's probably because anything outside of the track looks like hot garbage 95% of the time. We'd be getting clear views if 2D tree walls and whstnot.

This is likely because different tracks have different “outfits”, so to speak, depending on the size of the event.

Go to pretty much any track in time trial mode and look at the amount of sponsorship signs, crowds, etc.

Then go to the same track in a sport mode race or mission race or FIA race or something and compare it, you’ll notice there’s WAY more going on.

This bridge is likely one of those things.
