The Hunger Games Thread.

Makes much more sense. I read all three books and watched the movie. IMO, the final book ending could have been better. I won't talk about it, knowing that there are some people browsing that haven't read the final book yet.

I'm reading Mockingjay currently, haven't watched the movie yet.

Just so those know the movie is only about the first book so your not ruining anything by watching it before the 2nd or 3rd books.

They weren't too bad of books. My girlfriend bought the set and I read them after. The movie wasn't how I pictures it being made but it wasn't a train wreck. 2nd movie comes out fall/winter 2013 I believe.

I need to read the last two. I read the first one quick so I could see the movie but then I sort of lost interest. How are they, do they take a while to get going like the first one?

Oh no, please don't tell me you've all been poisoned by this thing!? :P

That is all I needed to say. Though my reason for not liking it is because I had to do it for novel study last year, and I disliked it so much I simply didn't read it. Yet for static image (which was something to do with the book) I passed with Merit.

Hunger games?

?

Isn't the Hunger Games just about a bunch of kids killing one another?

As an additional post, I really like threads with no info in the OP, like this one.

What do they call The Hunger Games in France?

A Battle Royale with cheese.

Kind of. It's basically about a sick society that stages a gameshow watched across the nation involving kids on an arena fighting for survival. There are 24 kids, 12 boys and 12 girls and there is one winner, the person who survives.

Since I'm not much of a book person I found out about the story by watching the movie. However I loved the film; seen it twice now. May well read the next two books before the other movies come out.

Anyhow to answer your question, there's actually a lot more to the story than first meets the eye. In the second story it becomes very clear that political rebellion plays a big part in the story. However for the want of not spoiling it for others I shall say no more than that. :)

I believe it also has an anti-government message in it.

That's just the first book. In the second book, there is a special Hunger Games where they get all the previous winners to participate again. The President does this because he hates Katniss and her shiz.

Ahh, haven't read the second yet. Does it start slow like the first?

That would be a spoiler. That isn't found out until well into the book...

Yeah basically but that's part of what sets up the rest of the book. I think it needs to be done that way.

my only problem is the constant feelings Katniss shares in almost every single page for Gale and Peets. it drives me mad. :banghead:

I know...it's like

I think I should save Peeta.
Wait, Gale will be watching.
Maybe they'll be too sad to watch.
Yeah, maybe I'll save him.
WHAT DO I DO?!@$%#%$^&*&*^*&%&

I blazed through the first 2 books recently, and I'm about 65% through Mockingjay. Recently though, life has taken hold of my reading time.
