i just restarted vice city for fun and i im a fair way through it again. in the last cortez mission where you protect his boat, you have to shoot down the hunter. after i finished the mission and had shot down the hunter, i got the police uniform and went to the air force base to play a bit of "brown thunder" and the chopper wasnt there. ive been back several times since and its not there. i think if you shoot down the hunter in the mission, its gone for good.

this is a warning for people who have just started vice city.
 
nope, I shot it down in that mission and I can still get it.. Are you looking in the right spot? Its not at the Helipad in the middle of the base, its between two tents. I figure you know this already though, right? It's usually there when I go to get it, so it should be there for you.

yeah, im looking in the right spot but its never there. ive been over the base in a chopper about 10 times and ive walked in around 10 times and its never there. before i restarted, i could walk in and get it but now i cant. :irked:

ah well that would be why its not there then. id finished all the missions in my previous save. not far off finishing it for the second time :D
 
the brown thunder missions are fun and they make you lotsa money. i got to level 150 and i got over 56 million dollars. it took forever, but it was fun.
 
I got it with 100 packages and i didn't look at a map. It just took...very very LONG!!!
 
Who gives a crap? It's just a game. Not to mention it still takes effort to find the packages. You just know where they are. Not the exact spot, the area.
 
rjensen, it actually took me about a week just to get about 50, and then another week to get the other 50, of course i had already bought the Hyman Condos so i am taking this as my practice game, and now that i know where all the hidden packages are i might write it down. Unique Jumps are very hard to find, i've only done 9.

The Hunter is there all the time for me...i crashed in Washington and drove back to the base and it was there again. :)
 
With 100 packages, of course :) I'm now up to doing Phil's missions...I loved "The Job", was really cool :)
 
Ok, I've never been in the army base, I don't think. Where is the base? I've seen a map of where all of the helicopters are in the game, but I can't find the map now. Does anyone know where a map is on the net?
 
I'll put it here, since there are already spoilers:

This is a mission for the Malibu, where you have to do the following:
-The Safe Man
-The Shootist
-The Driver

Then it's the final part, The Job.

You go to a bank, which is called Banco Corrupto Grand (Big Corrupt Bank). You go there in a suit with a hockey mask, and hold up the bank. You then have to go upstairs, shooting a few guards with the safeman, when he tells you to get the manager. You get the manager and shoot his guards, then go up the elevators back to the safe. You go back down to check on the hold up and someone sets the alarm off. You run into a pink marker and then the Vice City Swat Department over a megaphone say they got you surrounded, then they raid the place, just as the safe has been opened. You have to shoot about 10 SWAT guys before you can run out where a cutscene shows your driver being shot. You then have to shoot a few FBI people and drive to the pay'n'go. Once out of there i had two flats but just made it. I went in, lost my wanted level, then picked up Phil (I was supposed to already have him) and drove to a house, missions ended, and i was 50 grand richer. :)
 
I'm having trouble with Phil's first mission now, with the last truck all the dudes come and gun me down. What vehicle should i use? A tank?
 
I did that but when on the last truck all the guys on scooters came and shot out my tires, dragged me out, i shot them all then the truck ran me over.
 
The last mission of Phil's is said to be hard but i find it very easy. After the mission ur having trouble with DTV there's a mission where you go over there he is going to blow up something called "Boomshine" and it doesnt explode from the detonater. In the meantime ur inhaling some of that "Boomshine" and get high. Phil goes over there holds the "Boomshine" in the air and it explodes and explodes his whole arm off. The mission basicaly is take Phil to the nearest hospital. Heres the catch... remember that boomshine you inhaled? ...well your high and the screen is semi-blurry and your controls are hypersensitive which results in some major over-steering! when you get to the hospital he says "Too many Cops!" and he directs you to a hospital in Little Havana or Little Haiti, in the meantime cops report you as a drunk driver. And after dropping him off mission completed!
 
I did that guns mission thing...for the last guy i used a Hunter to blow up the car, because the scooter guys kept re-spawning.

Strangely, i didn't have ANY cops after me when i did the boomshine mission, and it was very easy. I stuck to the road easily....
