I am currently 45th in my region with a 2:18.7ish but im losing 0.9ish on the last 3 bends and i have no idea why? What is the technique used by the top 20 drivers for these bends, and what gear for each bend etc?

Any help much appreciated!

Why don't you download and watch them? (once the PSN is back up)

I am the same, I lose a ton of time on the last sector. I just put it down to genius driving from the top guys... I reckon it's the subtlest of inputs through the high speed stuff that gives that all important little bit extra... 2 tenths here are 2 tenths there and before you know it you are a second down on the lap.

Everybody including the top 20 are losing time in the last sector, its the hardest sector on the track by along way, but also the place you'll gain the most time once you have learnt it :).

Dude im losing alot of time in last 3 bends, I have been 0.3 seconds behind l1a2r3 coming into the last section a couple of times and keep rubbing my speed off on the last sweeping bend. One Lap I only lost 0.4 sec on the last bend and got my 2:17.879

Last sector is great commitment and not hitting the first 2 apexes(by about a cars width away) frees up the car and you can go about 10mph faster midcorner once you have found the line the last corner hit the apex as late as possible for max exit speed

Yeah you know what smurph, that makes sense! I am always clipping the apex but then I'm not set up for the final bend which is the most important one of all, glad I logged on here now to check the replies!
I'm currently 33rd AGAIN, lol with a 2:17.915 and I know I can knock 0.5 off that, so I just hope taking that 2nd from last bend a bit wider will help even more!
Let's see how I do tomorrow night armed with my new info!

I am not sure if that applies to 2nd last corner - I think clipping apex is quick there?
The first 2 corners of first sector is what djsmurfph said and I want to try that now as I am losing about a second there and I am trying to clip the apex! Interesting :-)

Unsure what you mean by the last 3 but I can give some tips on the last sector in general, so you've just gone round the corner after the straight and gone through the split;

Your aim is to maintain 89-91 mph round the corner maintaining a very inside line. When the track straightens (In a general perspective) this is your brake and turn in point, your aiming for 77 mph + on the apex of the bend and an exit speed of reaching the exit kerb of 90mph + (3rd-4th gear transition). This corner is all about patience.

The double left (Well double apex) is a third gear corner and to hit both apexs at a speed of 81 mph+, while trying to maintain no oversteer and inside line on the corner. Braking point is the dent in the barrier.

The double right (Last corner) is a 4th gear apex into a 3rd gear apex (My line anyhow) the second apex is extremely late and a 70 mph apex, leading onto the straight try and miss out the "Dint" on the straight as much as possible by maintaining only 1 wheel on the road. Your aim is to hit the Start/finish line at a speed of 125 mph, (I hit 126mph once lol never done it again :S).

Hope that helps :) There my targets every lap on that sector.

I tried what I thought smurph was suggesting but it didn't work anyway, I went back to how I was taking it and have realised that all I was missing was a double press on the accelerator going into the very last bend allows the car to straighten up.
I improved my time again and got a 17.7something which puts me 26th.
I didn't even think the lap was particularly good so I know I still have room for improvement. I have only been getting 2 hours a night on it, and it takes that long to get into it! Wish I could have more time on it!!!

What time u think will be needed to get in the top 20 at the end of the allowed time?

For the UK your looking at 17.3-17.5 being the edge of qualification. While a sub 17 I think would be guaranteed qualification. Although thats just my personal opinion, and you never know what will happen.

Lol, managed to better my time today, currently resting on 20th, how long will that last I wonder? I bet I'm knocked out by the time I wake up!
Not too bothered anyway, I know I have to go quicker if I'm to make the top 20 at the end of qualifying!
I was actually in front of eddskills ghost on bend 6 at one stage which surprised even myself! And I actually managed my new quickest time the very next lap.
I think I am capable of a 17.1 so that's my new aim!
See what happens tomorrow!
