Hang on because this is a long post.
First of, about the cars. I would say half the cars in the game are fantasy cars (whether Gr.4 Gr.3 Gr.B or Vision GT cars), and a lot of the same cars are duplicates of each other just being in different classes with different tuning. And for a game that is so heavily focuses on the GT3 class they missed out on a lot of new cars like the Ferrari 488 GT3. Along with the amount of (real world and staple GT fantasy) tracks missing, these are the two most major deficiencies in this game, putting aside lack of GT career mode. This is not excusable.
They had over 300 premium model cars in GT6 that would still look fantastic on the PS4 (they where highly detailed and not much if any worse graphical quality than the current cars in GT Sport) and they couldn't be bothered to put them in because they weren't "next gen" enough which is BS. I also don't think the track environments are a big upgrade from GT6 either. Most of the graphical updates went into lighting and resolution and (thankfully) framerate, though there are still hiccups. This game was clearly made on the same engine as GT5 and GT6, which is not a bad thing because GT5 and GT6 at their core were amazing games.
The only thing this game does better than any other sim or semi-sim is the online multiplayer which is fantastic, that along with car presentation. Though I enjoy the gameplay and multiplayer, it is inexcusable that a game four years in development launches with such barebones content, and near the end of the PS4's lifecycle at that. This game retailing for $40 US released in 2015 or early 2016 would be forgivable, not $60 US at the end of 2017. If the upcoming car and track DLC isn't completely free, everyone should boycott the DLC and future GT titles to show Sony that we will not except less for more money. Because if we don't, Gran Turismo Sport 2 will launch on the Playstation 5 four or five years from now with fifty cars and ten tracks with six being fantasy and one (a lazy) rally track.
