The Mars VoltaMusic

Any fans of their music over here?

I've their album 'De-Loused In The Comatorium', and I must say I'm not disappointed. For those of you who don't know them, their brand of music (or genre, whatever) as stated by MSN Music : Indie Rock Modern/Post-Hardcore, and "...hardcore, psychedelic rock, and free jazz...". They're kind good in my opinion, and fans of At The Drive-In, make sure you check them out.

List of band members :

Cedric Zavala - Vocals
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - Guitar
Jon Theodore - Drums
Juan Alderete - Bass
Isaiah Owens - Keyboards

Extra information about their album :

cover.jpg

"A fully realized concept album inspired by the suicide of a close friend of Mars Volta founders Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavalas, De-Loused in the Comatorium’s narrative consists of fantastic worlds and adventures that Cedric imagines the friend experiencing while in a coma following an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Although the story ends tragically, the creators insist that this is a celebration of the adventurous and daring life that their friend lived."

Wow thats some cool info u got there. :)

Ye i heard a few songs of theirs, need their albums tho. Really interested in gearing more of that original psychadelic sound they got goin :sly:

I just got the album "Frances the Mute" and it is prety good. L' Via L' Viaquez is my favorite song from it, een though I have no idea what language it is. It's a very upbeat song and sounds excellente.

Their new album is absolutely brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed Deloused in the Comatorium, but this one is better by a tenfold.

I seen them and A Perfict Circle live at the U.I.C pavilion last summer. Mars Volta put on one hell of a show. One of the most experimental bands I've seen.

They are extremely good, I need to pick up the new album. I love the random jazz infused in their music. The one thing I didn't like about deloused was the amount of ambience used, Seven minutes of sewer sounds right before an amazing section seems painfull for me. Gues that's why there is a fast forward button.

It's okay, you're better off sticking with METALLICA!!!!!!! silverzone.

Damnit. Metallica isn't the only band I ****ing listen to. Damn, constantly getting stereotyped is getting me pissed. I Like Other bands. Many many more bands.

OMG- I just bought the album today and just about crapped myself at the end of the intro of the song...it's so crazy! It's like if you were to put this into a racing soundtrack, it would be 230mph+ F1 carscrashing simultaneously in the middle of a war...and then it just slows down so fast, that it's like watching a plant wilt. Sweet stuff 👍

??? I'm just curious, are you saying that The Mars Volta sounds like Metallica?
If so, I strongly disagree.

I've heard there new single "The Widow" and I have to say, they sound alot like Led Zeppelin with a female singer/Lyricist. Alot of people (DJ's to be more specific) have been saying that "The Mars Volta sounds alot like led Zeppelin, what they're doing is not new or revolutionary at all."

So you're going to beleive a DJ that is probably paid to say they sound like Led Zeppelin?

Led Zep are far from The Mars Volta anyway.

And Sublime was making fun of silverzone because he's biased to that band and has no music spectrum whatsoever.

Of course I wasn't implying that they sounded like Metallica, that'd be absurd.

Also, they don't sound much like Zeppelin at all, whatever DJs said that need to get a clue. Also, who said anything about a female vocalist?

Isn't the Lead vocalist in "the Widow" female? If that's a guy, then
he seriously needs to get more loose underwear. ;)
Well yeah, I quess I was sort of brain washed for a second there when I first that DJ. If they have there own sound, then so be it. Oh well, everyone makes mistakes. Who was I to judge a band I didn't bother to buy their cd? *shruggs shoulders*

No it he not a lady. In the song Inertiatic ESP he sounds even more feminine. His voice isn't bad.

 ced female, just called a wide vocal range tho not as crazy as claudio sanchez, big bloke but can get blummin high  anyway if anyone wants to hear frances the mute for free winamp has a full cd stream on at the mo here (direct link to stream)

I like the Mars Volta... but mannn... their new album has way too much bullfeces on it... all the static bugged out sounds last as long as their songs. I don't like to sit through 5 minutes of random noise waiting for the next song.
