The Mars VoltaMusic

Any fans of their music over here?

I've their album 'De-Loused In The Comatorium', and I must say I'm not disappointed. For those of you who don't know them, their brand of music (or genre, whatever) as stated by MSN Music : Indie Rock Modern/Post-Hardcore, and "...hardcore, psychedelic rock, and free jazz...".

List of band members :

Cedric Zavala - Vocals
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - Guitar
Jon Theodore - Drums
Juan Alderete - Bass
Isaiah Owens - Keyboards

A little extra information about their album, "De-Loused In The Comatorium" :

cover.jpg

"A fully realized concept album inspired by the suicide of a close friend of Mars Volta founders Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavalas, De-Loused in the Comatorium’s narrative consists of fantastic worlds and adventures that Cedric imagines the friend experiencing while in a coma following an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Although the story ends tragically, the creators insist that this is a celebration of the adventurous and daring life that their friend lived."

Oh, Hell yeah...... I love the Mars Volta! I love their brand of rock..... It's obviously Indian influenced (mainly vocal structure), and has many dynamic changes. A wonderful thing, if you ask me. I am surprised to see more and more people interested in this band........... I hope this trend continues.....

;)

Indeed. I love the guy's voice, in my opinion it sounds very child-like, he 'screams' with an really good, crying tone. Or so I think. Especially in Inertiatic ESP. :)

Yeah, I have their album, along with their book and t-shirt. They are my absolute favorite band at the moment. Anybody here who hasn't heard them yet had better get their asses in gear.

:embarrassed: - Should've put the search function to use.

Mmm, I want their book too. :grumpy: *checks pocket* :(

Mmm. I have listened to The Mars Volta. And they rock. Simply awesome.

Shant inrtoduced me to this band. And I was glad I was.

:D - There's more to come.

Yep, they are amazing. You really need an aquired taste for them, or more mature taste for them in my opinion. I managed to see them live supporting the Chili's ;). Not many people liked them, but they were just mind boggaling live.
Personally I thought that they were more Espanic stylised of music, with the words and everything.

Hi all.

I was wondering if there's anyone here located in the US (LA mainly) who's going to The Mars Volta concert May 06 Los Angeles, CA @ The Wiltern ?

We're two guys (age 20 and 23) from Denmark planning to take the trip just for that concert with arrival april 30th and departure may 27th.

And we're looking for some company while we're there.
Anything goes, boy, girl, dog - we don't care :)
But would be sweet if we share the same interest for The Mars Volta.
A roof over our heads would be nice aswell ;)

Anyway, give us a buzz if you're interested, and we'll talk further.

Cheers.

I like them too. Sparta and At The Drive In are also great bands.

I had just gotten into At The Drive In when Relationship of Command came out and then they split. I haven't listened to Sparta, but the afro'd members of ATDI really did a good job with The Mars Volta. Awesome band. For those fans of the Mars Volta that haven't checked out their previous band At The Drive In, DO IT!!!
